Hiya. :)

So the song for this chapter is "Work Song" by Hozier. I kind of love it, and it sort of represents Elijah and Rose's growing relationship.

Okie dokes. Well, I hope you'll like this chapter. :D

Chapter Twenty-Six

We found her in the cemetery, chained up in a tomb. She grunted in pain while Elijah tore the chains off her wrists.

"Agnes stuck me with a needle," she groaned a little when he ripped of the second chain. "Cursed objects were created a long time ago. We use them so that we don't get busted by Marcel for using magic. The one she used is called the Needle of Sorrows, it was cursed in 1860 when-"

"Jump ahead a few decades and tell us what it does, love," Klaus said, and I swatted his arm.

"Be polite," I narrowed my eyes at him.

He scoffed. "Well isn't this the pot calling the kettle black?"

I rolled my eyes, and Sophie continued.

"It has one purpose. To kill a child in Utero by raising their temperature."

"It's for a miscarriage," Elijah whispered, to which Sophie nodded.

"How much time do we have until it kills the child?" I asked her. I was not letting that baby die.

"It'll do what it's meant to by tonight's high tide. And believe me, it will work. I saw her use a similar object on a kid who went mad and killed a bunch of priests."

"Sean," I growled out. That old bat is going to die for this. Tonight.

"I would like to have a little chat with this Agnes," Klaus said. "Where can I find her?"

"You won't. There are a thousand places she could hole up to wait it out."

"Which is precisely why we have to unlink you from Hayley," Elijah said. "No more danger towards her or the child."

"No, what?" She said, standing up. "If I am not linked to Hayley, I lose my leverage on you. We had a deal."

"We are not on the same side, Sophie Devereaux. Our deal no longer stands," Elijah stated.

"If you refuse to help us, Sophie, then Hayley will lose her child. I will not let that happen. And if it does, then you and Agnes will both die at my hand, and I guarantee that I will do it in the most painful way possible," I crossed my arms over my chest. "Now, it is yo-" I cut myself off when I felt a sudden striking pain in my right temple. I winced, but then continued. "It is your decision, Sophie."

"Rose..." Klaus whispered, and I turned my head to look at him. "Are you alright? You're sweating."

"I am?" I asked, then rubbed the back of my hand along my forehead. I looked down at it, and sure enough, my hand was moist.

"Have you..." Sophie bit her lip. "Have you gone near any of the witches lately?"

"No, I don't think so," I replied.

"Roseia, you haven't been around us lately. You said that you went out drinking a few times, right?" Klaus asked. I nodded in reply, and he continued. "Are you sure that you didn't come in contact with anyone? Did you drink from anyone who seemed different?"

"Yes... I did." Maria. A woman who I had met in a nightclub a few weeks ago. She tasted strangely sweet. She could have been a witch. "A woman named Maria."
