"Death."

How peculiar. Shao Jun would've snapped his neck if he ever questioned any suicidal tendencies ever displayed by Shao Long. As a matter of fact, it was him that dreamt of Shao Long following his mother to the ocean. It was him who always imagined how Shao Long's death would be like, be it from old age or from this wicked disease.

Charles visited Shao Long on Monday, directly after class. He informed Evan beforehand about his plan at school. The man didn't really appreciate him coming to visit on the first day of the week, and he did tell him off a few times. He gave up on the fifth attempt and could only allow the blonde to visit. No one accompanied him, since Mondays are always busy for the Student Council, so he basically ditched his duty as the secretary to make a hospital visit.

"Is he going to wake up today?" Alex asked him.

It had been around 6 days after the surgery. Charles didn't know what made Alex think he could predict exactly when a person would wake up from a coma, but he was right at some point. He didn't know how surgeons work, didn't know how a person could wake up from a coma, or to what extent psychology has effect on major diseases such as cardiomyopathy. All he knew was that Shao Long would wake up today, and he was going to no matter what.

'Crazy' he tells himself. 'How the hell would you know?'

Charles didn't know, but he thought it was the truth.

"I don't know, Alex." He grinned. "I just thought it'd be nice to see him today."

Somewhere at the back, multiple of the student council members rolled their eyes after being ditched by their secretary who is basically the third strongest student in the school after Gion.

But Alex just....believed him.

"I understand. If he happens to wake up, send my regards!"

"Of course. I'll get going now." And with that, he left.

The trip to the hospital wasn't especially long. He didn't need to hitch a ride with a taxi or have someone to drive him there. Although they have already entered winter and the wind was starting to get freezing, Charles didn't mind a 20 minute walk through the island where he could enjoy the view of dead leaves falling from pale-barked trees. The pathway had been covered with leaves that seemed to have been plastered to the bricks. Charles could only imagine the work needed to scrape all these out, It was slightly slippery, with the humid steps and slippery texture of the leaves, a kid would've slipped if they were running about.

It was then that he noticed very few people were outside, playing. He knew that it was cold, but children don't generally give a damn about weathers if they want to play outside. There were some elderlies outside of shops and houses, reading the news and occasionally sip on their cup of tea. The rest were adults returning home after work. But other than that, there was no one else.

That's what happens when the outside was being terrorized. He was certain that adults would tell their children to not go outside, or even go to school. Who knows, some terrorist might end up causing a school shooting instead. Momos had never been threatened with dangerous attacks before, the most common ones being the assassination attempts on Momos Academy students, but the island isn't that small. There are other schools here, middle schools, high schools, kindergarten. The people also need education. The lives of the civilians in Momos does not revolve around the students of Momos Academy. Their matters are to be taken by their own hands but at the same time, they are affected as well.

Maybe they are even used to having to hide in their homes in fear of getting involved. Maybe that's why there are not as much adults going on with their business during the weekends when students of the Academy went for their outing.
