Chapter 122: The Suggestion

When Shao Long heard the second bomb go off, his heart rate skyrocketed for a good minute that he stared at the shaking walls a little too warily. Okay, well, he had already been warned by Xi Shen Ko, or specifically, his real father, that a bomb was incoming as a means to get rid of all, if not most of Xi Shen Ko's traps he had somehow laid out in the already heavily guarded hospital. He was also aware of his father fooling Xi Shen Ko with the silliest trick he had ever heard before, and one that actually might work indeed.

They had succeeded in getting Xi Shen Ko to the topmost floor, only one floor left for him to be cornered at the rooftop. One way for that, of course, was for the host to diffuse several bombs that might be a threat once they were all upstairs, more than they were downstairs. That said, the ground floor had been cleared of all human beings, particularly guards a quarter of an hour ago, pushing everyone to the top, mostly to further pressure Xi Shen Ko to the rooftop.

And of course, Xi Shen Ko would automatically think, once he realized that the host had diffused bombs, that the priority was to secure the hospital's ground floor for stability. What he didn't know was, of course, that the hospital's support pillars were quite far away from where the bomb was located. The host had ensured to place it as far as he could. It still did not manage to shirk off the heavy rattle that it brought though. The ground floor was still the most important floor for the building. And Xi Shen Ko, thinking for certain that the bombs on the ground floor was diffused, to an irreparable degree, had rushed to the topmost floor to check if the bombs there could still be used. That too, was a bold assumption.

Perfectly sensible though, because not even the host could diffuse so many bombs in just two hours.

And there was the most laughable part of all. Xi Shen Ko was certain that the host had been in control for two hours, he didn't even consider that the host would adjust his watch to make it look like two hours had gone by, when really it had only just been a couple minutes more than an hour.

And that was the only reason why Xi Shen Ko moved directly to the topmost floor without further questioning.

Shao Long knew all of that even before the bomb had gone off. He had anticipated it, really. Just any moment then, but still he couldn't keep his cool. Charles had left a few minutes before, for the next part of the plan. Their final move, really. They were going to use the satellite. They were going to win this, he told himself over and over again. he would not have to meet the Xi Shen Ko who had hurt him at all. Hell, with all the guards swarming the upper floors, it would take one hell of an army to get right over to the third floor from the top. And not to mention that Anubis had certainly broken the hypnosis that fell on the guards that Xi Shen Ko stole, reducing the number of people Xi Shen Ko had fighting for him by a great deal. The first four floors were almost literally empty.

And yet.

And yet Shao Long knew Xi Shen Ko. Knew that it would take usually much more than this to take him down, no matter that it was the first time he had countered so heavily and with so many influential people involved. He knew the terrors Xi Shen Ko had done to get himself to where he was now, and he? He was just a teenager against the world's most inhumane psychopath in existence.
