Trying

"I can't do this!"I said grabbing Draco's hand as he stood by the edge of the cliff. "Yes you can! Take my hand a look at me and walk." "I really can't Draco!" I said my heart pounding a mile a minute my hands feet legs and face sweating. "Just try!" He said looking at me. "I am, I'm really trying but it's not working! It's really freaking me out!" I couldn't shake the phobia. I looked down and the world seemed to spin. "Draco. Draco I can't." I tapped out and backed up to the main platform. I exhaled and shook my head. "Sweetheart, you can do it." He grabbed both of my hands. "No, you don't understand, I can't!" I was so scared every part of me was shaking, my breath wasn't present as I felt that the heights were stealing it from my lungs. "Babe, I can't." I said backing up. "Sweetheart look at me." I looked at him as he talked. "You can do it. Just look at me and listen to my voice."

He started walking backwards to the narrow cliff path. "No no no Draco I-" "shh. Just look at me, only at me. Breath in and out, listen to my voice only my voice." I did as he said and stepped forward. I kept taking small steps across. "See your okay." Draco said rubbing his thumbs over the top of my hand. I smiled and exhaled. "Yeah, I'm actually okay." I said nodding. "Just a little farther." He said. He took a couple more steps and then slipped. I saw him fall. 10,000 feet onto the cold hard ground. "Draco!" I shrieked from the top of my lungs. I ran down the hill not even afraid of heights anymore just worried about my boyfriend. "Draco, draco, draco. Look at me. Open your eyes, come on you can do it." I said.

Tears running down my face as I let out sobs of pain and loss. "Come on Draco please!" I cried even more and more wanting him to wake up. "Come on please wake up." I said wiping my thumb over the soft skin on his face. "Please, I made it over the cliff, I conquered my fear, I tried for you." I paused slightly. "So please, try for me." I said looking at him, hopelessly and aimlessly waiting for nothing or something. "Come on, try." I whispered. I kissed him. "Try." I whispered again. I saw movement in his fingers. I moved away and closer to his arms. "Try." I said again a little louder. More movement came from his arms and now his legs. "Try for me." He moved more and more and now he was breathing. "Draco." I moved and helped him sit up. Tears stopped and a smile appeared on my face.

As he regained consciousness he looked at me. "I'm so sorry." He said. "Draco you have absolutely nothing to be sorry for." I said. "No I am sorry." "For what?" "For making you worry even more about heights now then ever. I just fell and almost died. Your probably never going to let you or me do this again." He said. I shook my head. "No you got it all wrong, you made me loose my fear, I walked all the way down this by myself, I looked down for you constantly, I'm over it." I said. He smiled. "I'm glad my near death experience could help you." I smiled back and kissed him. He pulled me on top of him. I pushed up so he could breathe. "If the fall didn't kill you, I will."

I said to him watching him inhale deeply. He just shook his head and kissed me again. He looked up at me as I still laid over him. "I'm so glad I helped you." He smiled and put his big hand on my small soft face. "Thanks." I said as I got off of him and he got up. As we started walking I tripped. "Okay lets get home before one of us dies." He joked. "Yeah." I said dusting off of my pants and I walked over and grabbed his hand. "I don't want to die today." I joked. "Nobody wants to die." He pointed out. "True." I commented.

We both just laughed and joked around until we got back. "Oh my god what happened to you Draco?" Everyone asked looking at his cuts and bruises. We both sighed and looked at each other. "It's a long story." I said to them "well give us all the details!" I looked at Draco and he looked at me. We both said still looked at each other as we said our last sentence before we told the story "we'll try."
