"Hey where did you find this?" One of my friends Brandi asked as she held up a small snake ring. "I don't know, but it's not mine." I said closing my big text book and getting up. I walked over and plucked the ring out of her hand. I inspected it carefully, not wanting to interfere with it in any way. I hummed at its glory. "I know exactly who this belongs to." I said smiling and shoving it in my pocket. "Who?" She asked packing up her bag so she can got to bed. "I'll be right back Brandi." I said smiling. I walked out and shut the door quietly. I turned around only to run almost into a person. The person I was looking for. "Oh hey." A manly voice said. Slightly sneering but I think that was just his natural voice. "Hey! Your the person I want to talk to." I said.

"Um, why?" He asked. I dug in my pocket feeling for the ring. The metal one with the snake on it. I clasped the cold metal that was noticeable in my warm pocket. I handed it to him. "Where'd you find this?" He asked. "It was on my dresser." I said looking down. "Although I can't understand why. The only thing I know of is that I could be a magic transporting ring, that is supposed to take you with it wherever you want to go." I said looking at him. "Ew! Stop faltering yourself!" He said putting in the ring. I raised one eyebrow but he said it did nothing. "Okay then." I said sighing. "I'm going to go to bed." I said walking backwards toward my door. "Okay, goodnight." He said walking away. The ring that was once in his finger, he was now playing with in his fingertips. He twirled it as I went inside. I sighed and face planted onto my bed. I yawned and turned off the lights. It was Draco I had talked to. The owner of the ring that mysteriously was on my dresser. I didn't believe it for a second that it wasn't a teleportation ring. Of course his dad would buy that for him. But I just pushed away the thought and snuggled more into my comfy warm bed sheets.

"Payton! Wake up!" Brandi shook me awake. "What?" I asked groggily rubbing my eyes. "Your late! You have 10 minutes to get ready and get to breakfast!" She said putting on her jacket. I shot out of bed and ran to my closet. I threw on a tank top jeans and a little bit of makeup. I ran out of the common room to breakfast. As I was heading to the hufflepuff table I was stopped by a tall figure. "Hey. I just wanted to say thanks for the ring." It was Draco. "O-oh. Yeah no problem. I assumed it was yours." I said looking at him. "Welp. You assumed right. Like always." He said awkwardly. "Why are you so awkward?" I asked. "Um, I-I um..." he trailed off. "What?" I asked him. "Do- do you- like I don't know maybe wanna-" he was cut off by my friends screaming my name. "I have to go. Can you ask me later?" I said slowly walking over to my friends. "Yeah, later." He said waving me off. He smiled weakly. What did he want?

Draco's pov
It was harder to ask her out then anything I've ever done before. She knew me pretty well and vise versa. We talked occasionally and laughed at each other's jokes that were cracked. So to say we were distant friends. I've had a crush on her forever but father says she's not good enough. But in my eyes she's better. I was sadly interrupted by her friends as I was asking her out. Dang it. Another time I guess. I walked back to the Slytherin table and sat with my head on my hands. Just thinking. I really did like her. I'm gonna do it. I'm gonna walk up and ask her. I shot up from the table and walked over. "Hey Draco." She smiled and that threw me off. "Heydoyoywanttogooutwithme?" I said. "What? Draco I can't understand you." She said giggling. "Do you want to go out with me?" I asked blushing putting my hands in my pockets and looking down. "Aww!" She said. I looked up at her. She got up from the table and stood next to me. She pulled me in for a hug. I felt so happy right in this moment. I've had a crush on her since first year. "Of course ill go out with you." She said smiling genuinely.

This is what I loved about her. She's my little baby and I wouldn't let her go. Her curls bounced as she laughed. "Okay Payton let's go!" Brandi said with her other friends. "Okay." She said. She looked back kissed me on the cheek and left. I stood there blushing.

I stand in that same spot where it all happened. Dead flowers in hand. I drop the flowers in tears as I silently cry about the death of my once happy and alive girl. The tables were smashed in and the walls were all rubble. I heard a clink as I stepped. I looked down and it was a journal. It was Payton's journal. I picked it up rubbing the soft leather with my thumbs. I sniffled in and let another teardrop fall. This time it landed on the book. I wiped my face with my sleeve and put the book in my satchel. I walk to her grave which lays right next to my mother and fathers. She was only 17 when she passed. I was just as old as she when she died. Every day is a burden without her here. I place the book on her cold tombstone. The wind picked up carting my robes, pulling them in the winds direction. I let out one last tear, the last tear that was shed for her. No more crying. No more. I stayed strong but still, underneath skin, I was sad.

I always will be sad. I'll always mourn the death of my beloved Payton. The girl who set my heart on fire.
