97 - Tonic

Wu Jian went back to his estate and found Ruyi in the bedroom. Jumao was standing at the bedside with a maid at her side holding a tray of the tonic. The prepared tonic medicine required several hours of preparation. Before consuming, the medicine had to be completely cool and be served in a bowl completely made of ice. "Child, no children" Wu Jian said sternly. "I will only allow this once... I cannot risk this ever again..."

"Don't be afraid..." Wu Jian stopped her before she could apologize. "Rest"

Her trembling body listened to his gentle words. When Ruyi eyes closed, all she felt was warmth.
