A/N:  My heart is so heavy right now.  I can't believe this is the official end of the story.  On the other hand I can, because I have been working on it for so long.

February 24th and it's unseasonably warm. Which is fine by me since it's the twins' third birthday. We are all at home preparing for the party in a few hours. At the moment though, we are mostly waiting on Joshua to get home from school before we start preparing for our family to arrive. Sang Hee set off to pick him up about an hour ago so it should be any minute now.

I'm immediately at his side when I see him throw his backpack across the room. "Whoa! Let's be more careful with our things." Then I see how angry he seems, so I escort him to one of the couches and nonverbally insist that we sit together by putting a hand to his shoulder and directing him that way. "What's the matter, Joshie?"

He shrugs his shoulders, but I can still see 'the chip' there. Something is definitely still bothering him and making him a mixed amalgamation of angry and upset. Good thing he knows that I will sit here until he actually tells me what is going on. He can't simply shrug things off like they are nothing. "Kids at school. They are constantly making fun of me."

"Making fun of you or noticing your differences?" I ask calmly.

He shrugs his shoulders. Which makes me realize that he didn't think about comparing the two possibilities against each other, which makes me very thankful to have considered asking the question in the first place.

I probe him further when he doesn't offer anything else and simply sits in silence once more. "Are they saying mean things to you?"

"No, not really. They just like to point out my accent, hair color, and eye color a lot." He sits up a bit straighter, and I can see that he is realizing for himself what is going on.

I nod. "That's going to happen, Joshie. It definitely wasn't easy for me when I first got here." Then I start telling him an exceptionally tamed down version of what happened to me just before his arrival three years ago. "Do you know what the difference was between my situation and yours though?"

"My friends at school are just noticing how different we are. They don't dislike me because I am different."

I nod to him. "Exactly." I point at his backpack that is still laying on the floor. "Now, go pick that up and get changed for your sisters' birthday party."
