After taking quick showers to rinse the sweat from their bodies the boys each change into something clean before their security team leads them off to the green room. None of them have voiced it but they have all realized something felt different the minute they touched down at O'hare International Airport. While they didn't speak of it they each would glance at each other periodically with a look of hope and wonder on their face.
Their security team was blocking the girls in line from their sight, but they each felt a tingle slide up their spines and the sensation seemed to reaffirm that their plan was working. They would be united with her tonight. One of them in this line was their soulmate.
The interviews seemed to drag even though Jimin was able to dismiss each one rather quickly. A few had inked something onto their skin with a ballpoint pen. Others were crazy enough to get an actual tattoo. None of them were able to provide anything additional to prove their claim. Jimin was beginning to wonder if the sensations he had been feeling were wrong, or if he had misread them. He worried that she wasn't lined up outside their door after all. That doubt was especially enhanced when Manager Sejin peeked his head through the door door and told them that the next one was the last in the lineup.
The minute she entered the room all of them froze. They took in her peach freckle dusted cheeks, her long flowing wavy auburn hair, and her pale eyes that they couldn't quite decipher the color of.
"Um..hi." She bit her plush bottom lip and a groan escaped from a few of them at the sight. "Sorry, I'm a bit nervous." She wrapped her arms around herself as if the hoodie she was wearing wasn't keeping her warm.
"It's okay." Namjoon indicated a seat in the center of the room directly opposite Jimin. "Why don't you introduce yourself and tell us why you are here? Why do you think that you are Jimin's soulmate?"
"Oh, where to begin? First of all, my name is Daisy Keegan." The whole room collectively takes a deep breath, and she pauses before continuing. "I'm probably going to drag this out but it's truly easier to give you some background story first. You see growing up I was a hopeful romantic. I grew up dreaming of my prince, my soulmate. I dreamed with excited anticipation of the day that I would be able to get the serum injected into my bloodstream, and I often wondered where the mark would end up on my body, of what it would be."
The whole room was able to sense the way her emotions began to change. They weren't sad per se, more like a melancholic tainted nostalgia. "My parents weren't rich and donated part of their time and money to people that were in need more than us, but still when I turned thirteen they began to put back a little money from each of their paychecks with the plan to be able to pay for my injection on my 18th birthday."
She licks her lips and takes a breath. Now she was practically drowning in sadness and seemed to be barely able to keep the tears from filling her eyes. "A few months prior to my birthday they were in an accident that took their lives. The funds they had saved ended up going to funeral expenses and mortgage payments they were behind on. I didn't have any family left so I was put in a foster home. But, from the moment I graduated high school and was on my own I have been working two jobs and earning the money bit by bit to be able to pay for the serum on my own. It took me five years to save up the money. I went to a clinic and had the injection about two months ago."
The timeline seemed to line up perfectly with what happened on their own end the night they got their own marks. "I went back to the clinic and had them print this off." She pulls a piece of paper from her purse. Namjoon is immediately able to tell that it's a form supporting her claim.
She starts tugging off her hoodie. When it drops off behind her she rearranges her hair so it slides down her right shoulder. "I noticed this just after I channeled somnium venereum." She turns over her arm to show us the inside of it where 'Serendipity' is clearly written.
