Love was the least thing Sakuma expected to experience for his main attention was dedicated to Teikoku as their assistant coach.
But as he watched you giggle to whatever you found funny from Kidou's words, he felt this tingly feeling in his chest; it was a foreign, unpleasant, and disturbing feeling that left him grumpy and unhappy. He did not want to seem demanding or cause you any discomfort by his aura that rediated of unhappiness; so, he left the two of you be and wandered away.
The next time you spoke, he acted normal but slightly on edge. Not because he was upset with you, not at all, but because the omninous, tingly feeling he had previously experienced transformed into a tingly feeling of another sort; this one was welcoming, warm, and ecstatic that left him fidgeting and his face and ears burning. It was a frustrating feeling he would admit, but he could not deny the enjoyment he derived from it.
"Are you okay, Sakuma?" You asked him with curious, slightly concerned eyes. The look only made him more nervous, which made him avert his eyes to the side as he assured you that he was alright.
Yet, soon that ominous, tingly feeling re-emerged when he witnessed how you seemed closer to Kidou than ever before. But what striked him more was the way the man in goggles held your hand gently.
Sakuma knew it was not right to feel angry, but the anger did not cease boil; even at his mind's scolding. He was about to depart again when he heard his name called by you. He stopped in his tracks, studied his expression to neutrality, and then turned to face you. Meanwhile, Kidou dropped your hand and you thanked him in silence.
Usually, you would receive a smile from Sakuma, whether it was a soft, relaxed smile or a small one. But there was a tight, still line on his lips as he looked more restless than usual despite his best efforts to hide it.
"Hello, (Y/n), Kidou." The bitterness in which he uttered Kidou's name did not fail to capture your attention, nor the man next to you. Thus, a long staring contest initiated between the two man as you cluessly glanced from one to the other. Yet, to your unawareness, Kidou's expression changed into an almost unnoticeable smile before he wordlessly left the scene. Nor you or Sakuma uttered a word or moved a muscle as you tried to study Sakuma's eyes that were sheilded by the shadows of his hair.
"Sakuma-" You started, but you were quickly cut off by the said man.
"I understand that you don't feel the same as me." He said as he continued to avoid looking at your eyes.
"It's not-"
"It's okay, (Y/n). You do not have to say things you don't mean to make me feel better."
"That's not what I-"
"If you found your happiness with Kidou, I will not dare to snatch it away from you." And you could swear you heard a faint crack in his voice as he made that statement, as if those were words he never wished to leave his mouth.
"Sakuma-" "Your happiness is what matters-"
"Can you please just shut up for a second and listen to what I have to say?" You brutely interfered, but there was no trace of anger or annoyance in your tone. If anything, a small giggle left your lips at the pierced lips and widened eyes that plastered Sakuma's face.
"I do not have any sort of romantic attachement to Kidou." You stated. Sakuma's eyes widened a fraction before they narrowed in confusion as he said, "but earlier, he was holding your hand."
"That was because I tripped and almost fell, but he was the closest and caught me just in time before I hit the ground," you explained. However, a shade of doubt still haunted Sakuma's eyes, which you quickly caught up to.
"If there is anyone who has captured my heart," you took a few more steps closer to him, "It is none other than you. You who makes my heart flutter with each smile you cast towards me; you who blesses my ears with each instance my name leaves your lips; you who sends butterflies in my skin with each touch." The words were fluently leaving your lips as if it was a well-done speech that hid in the deepest corner of your heart, reserved only for Sakuma to hear. And to emphasize your words, you held his hand and gave it a gentle squeeze; the touch served as further reassurance that Sakuma didn't know was missing out.
The latter was speechless, too stunned to properly form an appropriate answer. Figuring out that words were not doing the job, he leaned forward; his face inches from yours.
"Can I?" He asked as the gentleman he was. Your grin reached your ears as you nodded repeatedly, granting him your permission.
And as your lips touched in a blissful moment that seemed powerful enough to stop time, your love blossomed from that point onwards.
