"I have not visited for some months, and the mortal world is getting weirder. " She looked around and licked her lips in thought. " I have to get this done without Aras's knowledge." She walked towards a lake and waved her hands in the water, "Get him".

The water around her hands formed ripples and traveled to all water bodies in the state. Within minutes, the ripples traveled back with the information.

"Since I have promised that man, I will help him. You should know what to do. Keep today a secret."

The ripples at the lake stopped and the lake was clear.

The sun marked a new day and everything seemed nice. Vakul was having a calm day in his mansion. His subordinate Nilan strolled to his table,

"Lord, It's morning and there is no sign of that girl. Why did you let her leave."

"She is not important." He ignored Nilan's presence and answered him in a relaxed tone.

"But... yesterday you told me that you want to know more about her. Lord, we could have detained her."

"Hmm... Let's go to the bureau." He tapped his shoulder and walked out of his mansion.

Their horses stopped at the threshold of the bureau. She was standing with the guards at that point. He smiled and unmounted from the horse.

"Follow me." He ordered her to tag along with him to the bureau.

"Since I promised you, I will keep my word." She presented a paper.

"It has his address. I will wait for the results and I want to know why he dragged me into this web."

"Guards, to this place." He raised the paper. A group of guards followed him. They were people of great vigor and loyalty. Within 3 hours they returned with the shopkeeper. His hands were tied and his mouth was stuffed with cloth. It seemed like that man tried to commit suicide. The guards led him towards a dark room while he reached her.

"Take it back." He took out the pendant her seized from her.

"But... this is evidence."

"It's fake." He smiled at her with a sense of pride. Even the man near him was surprised.

"fake??" What do you mean."

"That man is a spy. They knew that we were tailing them. They just scapegoated you."

"Scapegoat!?"

"Yes."

"If you knew it was fake, then why did you arrest me?"

"I just played along." He gazed at her and took a deep sigh, "At first I wanted to detain you for one day and catch him as they will let their guard down thinking I have fallen into their trap but you offered me a great deal. So I just opted silent."

"Huh!!" She bit her lips in anger.

"But how did you manage to get him, a task that the serpent bureau was having hard."

"I told you, I have my ways." She grabbed the pendant and walked out.

"Hey!! wait...

If I offer you a job at Serpent bureau, will you accept it??
