Five teenage boys stood backstage at the Kids choice Awards fiddling their microphones in hand. Neither one said anything to the others.
After a few moments, however, the tallest of them broke the silence. “Hey guys, I’m starting to feel a bit nervous.”
“Oh come on Harry, you can’t back out now!” the blonde boy exclaimed. “I mean, what have you got to fear? You’re going to do great!”
“I know, but I can’t help but feel nervous. There’s a lot of people out there.” Harry said uncertainly.
Zayn gulped anxiously. “I know what you mean bro.” Then his face broke out in a smile. “Seriously though, you’ll be fine.”
“Totally,” Louis agreed. “Me, on the other hand, I’m not even sure whether I can perform in front of all these people.”
“You too?” Niall said. “Man, you should get out more often. With your singing skills, we can rock the whole place down.”
He then glanced around the group. “As for me, I don’t know how many pairs of ears I’m gonna hurt with my croaking.”
“Oh, you’re fine Niall,” said Liam. “You’ve been practicing really hard these past few weeks, and we all know you sound terrific.”
“I sure hope so.” As he said that, the presenters could be heard announcing. “They’re names are Niall, Liam, Zayn, Harry, and Louis. Give it up for - One Direction!”
“That’s us, boys,” Liam said to the others. “Just remember the way we’ve practiced, and we’ll be fine. And Niall, don’t worry about the audience, they’ll love you, okay?”
“Okay,” Niall said in little more than a whisper as the five headed onto the stage.
As the music started, the five boys walked one by one as the cameras paneled in their direction.
Then with a nod to his buddies, Liam cleared his throat then started singing:

Harry then took over the bridge:

Harry’s voice was also lifting as he strummed his bass guitar while singing:

As the fans cheered loudly for them, the cameras were paneling to other celebrities in the crowd. Taylor Swift, Ashley Tisdale, Selena Gomez and a few others were seen singing and dancing to the song. Even Michele Obama, the First Lady, was seen dancing.

“You guys were amazing!” Selena Gomez exclaimed. The five boys were chilling backstage after the award show was over, when she came up to them with Justin Bieber in tow.
The boys smiled and Zayn spoke for the group, “Thank you, we’re glad you enjoyed the show.”
“No problem. It’s nice to finally meet you guys.” Justin said while shaking Niall’s hand.
“You too. We saw you get slimed.” Niall said laughing.
Justin laughed too. “Yeah, it was great though. Congrats on your performance,” He said, waving then leading Selena to a group of kids with his hand on her lower back.
Liam, Harry, Zayn, Louis, and Niall glanced at one another smiling.
