After a long, tiring first two weeks of school in December, the time for students to take their yearly trips back home for the holidays finally arrived. It was now December 14th, on a Friday, and the air outside was chilly and frozen. Blankets of snow covered the grounds of Hogwarts, while ice crystals flaked down from the sky, providing a beautiful scenery just in time for Christmas. The black lake had become a sheet of frozen ice, and students had been tempted to ice skate, but the rumors of the giant quid snatching children from below the ice frightened then all too much so they restrained from doing so. The great hall was decorated beautifully with Christmas items and a large green and red bulb covered tree. The Weasley twins had spent two weeks bewitching snowballs to hit children and professors, and used the snow to all their advantages to pull more pranks. The few owls that managed to battle their way through the stormy sky to deliver mail had to be nursed back to health by Hagrid before they could fly off again. The train for Hogwarts was coming back today, to pick up students and take them back to Kings-cross station so they could return home for the winter holidays and spend time with friends and family.

For Coral Wolfrose, that was different. Her mother had sent her a letter just three days before, telling Coral that she would be attending a holiday with Sage Merlin's dad. This only meant that she would be staying at Hogwarts for Christmas, but she wasn't too disappointed. Her mother didn't forget to tell her that her gifts were being sent to Hogwarts, and they'd be waiting for her on Christmas morning.

Today, she strutted into the great hall with plans to actually do something. She had been told by Harry Potter who was also staying here, that she was required to add her name to Professor McGonagall's list of who was staying over break. She managed to locate where the list was held on the side of the great hall doors, then scribbled her name down her name underneath the small amount of names which had already been there. She scanned down the list curiously, only seeing that five names were on there.

Harry Potter
Luna LoveGood
Draco Malfoy

"Draco Malfoy?!" She frantically whispered to herself. Why was he staying here, he has his rich mother and house elves to take care of him, he shouldn't be staying here.

Sage Merlin
Coral Wolfrose

That was all on the list, just the five fourth years. It was going to be odd this Christmas, being one the only five students inside the castle. At least she had her best friend here with her so she wouldn't loose her mind out of complete boredom. Of course, Luna wasn't too bad either, but sometimes she seemed out of her mind and Coral wasn't too sure if she had liked her or not. She'd never really be sure with that girl.

By now, most of the students had cleared out of Hogwarts and were sitting on the Hogwarts express. Coral desperately wished she had been one of those students who were on the train going back home, but she knew her mother never would do something like that unless it was absolutely necessary, so she didn't second question it. She sighed and walked back to her common room, feeling the emptiness that was held inside. Throwing herself down onto the couch in front of the warm, crackling fire, she accio'd her new book "Patronus and their meanings." by Maximilian Crysanthimum, and began reading though the first couple of pages. Casting a weak patronus spell, she watched as her normal Hyena Patronus pranced around the empty common room.
She licked the back of her index finger, and swept through a few pages to locate what the meaning of her Patronus might be.

Mmm...stallion...phoenix...dolphin...doe... HYENA!
She scanned the page and began reading page 25, which held the hyena information of a Patronus.
"Patronus 25, Hyena;
Cunning and clever, those who are wise do not trust you. A clown on the surface, you hide your true motives well. Surprisingly smart you can often think or trick your way out of any problem. Usually preferring to solve difficult issues alone, that tends to not be an issue for the owner, as you yourself is your greatest power source of all. This patronus owner usually tends to not have many friends or finds it difficult to get closer to people around them, as they are used to counting on themselves. Do not underestimate this owner, as they hold many secrets and probably hold many advantages over others, due to keen observation stills. This owner will usually be seen listening and watching instead of talking. Anything that seems like an advantage to a situation, the owner will instinctively use it.
