The case had been partially difficult and harsh on everyone. Granted, any case involving children took a toll on anyone, but when the last child you're supposed to save dies before you can—
...it feels even worse.

It felt like the entire county was feeling terrible. Yet nobody blamed you and the team. But here you are, taking the blame and putting yourself down. It was kinda' obvious that you weren't feeling great, bad case or not. The team noticed that you were putting yourself down. You were, after all, the one to find her dead...

So here you are, on the jet, heading back to Quantico. You had taken the small couch at the back of the jet. You were curled up into a ball as you silently cried while listening to some pretty sad music. Everyone was looking at you from a distance. They were very worried about your state of mind at the moment. Hotch looked at Spencer who was probably the most worried. He was on the verge of tears himself.

The thing is, you and Spencer were secretly dating. In front of others, you two were best friends. I mean, you still are but you don't show the PDA. You never showed the loving stares, gentle touches, kisses and hugs at the office because you're technically not allowed to date. Your love for one another outweighed the "dangerous" of breaking the rules. Either way, everyone saw how close you two were, PDA or not. That being said, Hotch signaled Spencer over and quietly asked;

"Reid. Would you mind, um, checking in on (Y/N)? Just let her know that it's not her fault." He whispered with as much sternness as possible. Even he felt the pain radiate off of you that caused him to hurt like the others.

Spencer simply nodded and made his way to you. The couch moved a bit, but you didn't acknowledge it. He put his hand on your back, and slowly moved his hand, gently stroking your back. You flinched at first, but soon looked up to the recognized presence. You made eye contact with your lover.

Then, you broke.

You quietly wailed, grabbing the attention once again from your family. It hurt them all to hear that. You buried your face—hell, your whole body—into Spencer's neck and embrace. He held you just as tight as his body fell back so you were practically laying on top of him. He stroked your back with one hand and your hair with the other. He whispered sweet nothings to you. "It's okay" and "I've got you" were whispered lovingly as he sneakily placed kisses on your forehead. You continued your cries until they turned into sniffles. He spoke once you got it out;

"Talk to me..." he requested softly

"It's...i-it's my fault. Spencer...it's my fault she's d-d-dead!" you tried to say calmly, but were met with a few wheezes as the words were stuttered

"No, baby. Its not. You did everything you could. We all did. It's not you're fault, my love." he said a little assertively at the end.

The two new nicknames took everyone by surprise. Sure you two had been somewhat affectionate, but strictly in a friendly manner. They all communicated with wide eyes, silently asking everyone else if they heard that correctly.

"I could've done better..." you mumbled

"Pretty girl, please. I can't bear to hear you say that. It's too hard for my heart." he joked a little but was serious. You started to do something you did when you wanted to make sure he was real, not a beautiful dream. You squeezed him a little more and traced patterns on his chest. He recognized the action.

"I'm here, sweet girl, see?" he said and lifted your face gently to see you and so you could see him. He stroked your tear stained cheeks and kissed your forehead once again. The action causing the team's jaws to drop. The both of you were just off in your own world.

"T-thank you. I love you." you said quietly after you finally got everything out. You looked back up at him and couldn't help the lazy grin on your face just from his stare.

"I love you too." he cooed. Without thinking, you kissed his cheek and nuzzled back into the crook of his neck. He turned on his side so his back was to the rest of the jet as he kept his arms draped around you. It was a tight fit on the tiny couch, but very comforting.

Since he's so tall, the team could only see his back and one of your hands beneath his arm, and your forearm/wrist up his back. They could also see his arm slightly move while he caressed you. What they didn't see was the sweet kiss shared discreetly. But, being profilers, they assumed so anyhow.

After you guys fell asleep in one another's warm embrace, the rest discussed what just went down. Profiled, really.

"So...they're together." JJ said first

"That was one of the cutest things I've ever seen." Emily adds with a smile

"Wait 'till we tell Garcia. Her 'ship' has sailed!" Derek giggled

"I wonder how long this has been going on...the multiple nicknames, chemistry, and conformability say roughly...what? Five-ish months?" Hotch pondered

"I'd say seven. I mean, they said 'The L Word' without hesitation. Oh! Remember when Reid came in with all those hickies and Derek teased him relentlessly?" Rossi remarks

"Oh yeah! AND (Y/N) was limping! Oh my God!" JJ realized as they all stifled a laugh

"Damn! Look at 'em go. I can't believe we didn't notice. Hell, that was seven months ago." Derek says

"I'll have to remind them not to let it get in the way of work, but seeing that was a while ago, I guess I don't have to." Hotch thought out loud as a tiny smirk approached his face

"Those little sneaky bastards! They hid it so well! I'm just happy they're together. They're literally perfect for each other." Emily joked but was sincere

"I have a feeling this is longer than seven months..." JJ said with a smirk

"I agree. I'll drill him another time. Let them have their moment." Derek agreed

"I'll make sure to throw a celebration. This is worthy of one of my nona's dishes." Rossi exclaimed

"Hallelujah! I've been craving some of Rossi's famous cooking." Emily smiled

"I can't wait." Hotch said

"I'll take the baked ziti!" (Y/N) suddenly added, her giggle muffled slightly from Spencer's chest

"And you guys were sorta' close. One year on Friday!" Spencer suddenly added with a small giggle too

The others were kind of frozen and embarrassed from getting caught scheming, but they laughed it off as the jet neared the end of its voyage.
