Chapter 7 Grown Up !

Two year's have gone by Tessa could not believe she was still living at Cindy and carl's house. They have been so good to her that she felt like they had become her parent's after three year's of living with them. When she turned eighteen she had a massive party with all her friend's from school. They had all left the week before after finishing all their exams and applying for university's and colleges. It was the most amazing night she'd ever had. She even sang in front of all her friend's for the first time after Carl encouraged her to do it . Her friend's thought she was amazing and so did Carl and Cindy, they are so proud of how far she has come. They even suggested that she should go to Julliard in New York, or at least try's to get in as it's a very prestigious school and very hard to get into. Are you sure I'd be ok there ? It seems so far away from you ? I guess it is said Cindy. But for you to get better and better we think it's the best place. Obviously you still have to get in. so we'd better not get to ahead of ourselves said Carl. Well I guess we'd better find out what I have to do to get in then said Tessa all excited. Tessa looked up Julliard on the internet oh wow she thought they were not joking when they said it was prestigious. Only seven percent get in who audition. 

Also she saw the cost of it all and nearly fainted ! It was nearly seventy thousand dollar's ! That included all the book's , tuition and accommodation . Where am I going to find that sort of money? I'm going to have to work my butt off first and save like crazy. When she came down stairs, Cindy and Carl were waiting for her. They all sat down at the kitchen table. Well ? said Carl I/m to old to go to Julliard said Tessa . What ? Cindy was shocked. Really ? Yeah really ! Oh that's so disappointing said Carl It is but I have found a uni that might except me for my music and it does any age group. Ooh ok spill said Carl. Well another uni came up while I was researching. It's called Berklee College of Music and It's in Boston, also it has a better acceptance rate and it's a lot less money. So I'd only have to save for maybe three year's or so to get in ! "Tessa" We're not expecting you to pay for anything. What ! said Tessa. But I can't let you foot the bill. Cindy grabbed her hand. "Tessa" We have a lot of saving's and we regard you as our daughter now, so you will have our full backing ! If I can get a part time job to help then I will except said Tessa Oh and just so you know I regard you as my parent's too even though I'm no longer under your care anymore now that I'm eighteen.  What job will you do ? We don't want you working all hour's of the day and night when you don't have to. Ok well I will probably get a waitressing job that's flexible around my course work. Will you come back here for the holiday's ? Asked Cindy . Hopefully ! Yes of cause I will said Tessa Where else would I go ? Well who knows said Carl You might meet up with someone and won't want to come back. Don't worry said Tessa This is home, I will always want to come back. She smiled at them both. 

Well I guess the next thing to do then is get you application on it's way. The sooner we send it the better. said Cindy. Carl reassured her that him and Tessa would fill it in as soon as possible. Tessa investigated Boston to see where everything was and to see if any job's were going. She provincially booked a job at a restaurant just down the road from her digs at the college if she get's in. Obviously she told them she would let them know as soon as she got the acceptance letter. Cindy and Carl took her to Boston on the plane for a weekend, she found where the restaurant was and introduced herself. So at least later on it would be a bit more plane sailing if she got in. After about four week's a letter came through the letterbox, it had Berklee College stamped on the front. Tessa was still in her room when Cindy could not wait any longer and called her down. What's up ? she called out. The letter's here said Cindy all excited. Oh ok I'll be right down . She seemed to take an age to come down , so much so that Cindy was ready to go up the stairs and make her hurry up ! Carl managed to grab her and stop her. Wait ! he said She'll be down be more patient. Just at that moment Tessa came down the stairs. They all sat at the table it was a serious thing opening an acceptance letter. Tessa nervously opened the envelope and began to read the letter, when she got to the end she had a big beaming smile on her face. Cindy and Carl waited patiently for her answer. She looked up and over the letter and said you have a student at Berklee College. They said yes!  Of cause they did said Carl. Ooh love said Cindy. I'm so glad all your hard work is paying off. Were so so proud of you. They got up from the tale and hugged and kissed her . In the fall it was time for her to pack up her stuff and move to Boston and start college life for the next three year's. She was going to miss Cindy and Carl so much. But the first holiday would be Christmas , so she will soon be on a plane home again.
