Everyone was so startled and turned their attention to Tessa lying in the bed. Mariah rushed over and grabbed her hand. Hi, my love, we're all here, can you say that again, please? But Tessa's eyes were still firmly shut. Mariah turned to everyone, we did all hear her, didn't we? I'm not going mad? I just heard my wife speak for the first time in two weeks, but she's still not awake. You are not going mad said Frank, we all heard her. Mariah called for Elena and Nate, to come and answer some questions. They had to wait a while before they turned up. What's going on? asked Elena. Err well! Mariah began, Bowie was crying and my mom just said it's time to take this little one home, and as they're all heading for the door. Tessa chimed in with If the noise could be turned down? But when we all turned around and I rushed over to her, she was still not awake and she never said anything else.
So we want to know, does that mean she's waking up? asked Frank. We have no idea is the truth said Nate we've tested her for everything and the signs are all positive, and her brain waves are good. So maybe you will get these little outbursts now and again until she wakes up fully and then maybe she can tell us what went on? I remember when she was in the ICU in Chicago, when she woke up then, she told us she'd been hearing us all, and she was trying to have conversations with us all but couldn't. I remember that said Cindy. She said she was willing her body to talk and answer us, but nothing was happening. Well said Elena her body is doing all the healing right now, so I suggest you all just keep her spirits up and keep talking to her like you have been, and you can obviously bring Bowie in now and again to stimulate her even more, she'll open her eyes when she's good and ready I'm sure of it. Thanks for coming Elena said Mariah and you Nate I know you must be busy.
Nate came closer to Mariah. It's ok said Nate I know it must be awfully frustrating for you, not hearing her voice or seeing her awake after all this time. But the body is a miraculous thing in these situations, it's had to fight off something that could have been so deadly and it's had to undergo an intense operation removing a brain clot, and for her to have come through all that and still be here is a miracle in itself. So just be thankful that she loves you a lot because after all that she's still here fighting. Oh, don't you worry said Mariah I know how much she loves me and Bowie, and I praise her every day for fighting this hard for all of us? After what had just happened Mariah told her family she was going to take a minute, and take Bowie for a walk around Chancellor Park. She just needed to take a minute. Do you want me to come with you? asked Dena. No mom, you all stay here and keep talking to my wife. I just need to get some fresh air down my lungs. Ok well, we'll look after her until you get back said, Cindy.
Mariah got Bowie strapped into his car seat, his buggy was in the family room. Frank and Carl helped her take the stuff to the car and packed it all in for her. Give us a call when you get back here said Frank and we'll come out and help you. Ok, dad thanks. After clipping Bowie in, Mariah waved out the window as she drove off to the park. On the way she stopped off at Crimson and picked up a coffee and a brownie, I need this brownie she told herself as they got back in the car. The stroll around the park did her the world of good, she stopped halfway around to eat her brownie and have her coffee. She'd also had to feed Bowie and change him, he was now fast asleep in his buggy. Ok little man your mom feels a lot better now, my head fog has cleared and this walk has done me the world of good. By the time she gave Frank the call to say that she was driving back, she'd been out of Tessa's room for nearly two hours!
Hey mom, Hey Cindy, any changes? Both moms nodded no. How was your walk? asked Cindy. Ooh exhilarating, considering it's the first proper fresh air I've had in over two weeks. I also treated myself to a brownie and coffee from Crimson, so that perked me up as well. I can see that said her mom. I'm not that bad am I? said Mariah smirking at her. Well put it this way, you are definitely different from when you left said her mom smiling back at her. I can see it's cheered you up a bit and done you good. It has said Mariah all I need now is for the love of my life to wake up again, and then our lives can hopefully go back to some normality. I'm sure she's trying her best to get back to us said, Cindy. Oh, I have no doubt about that said Mariah she's always been one hell of a fighter, she showed us that in Chicago.
