Tessa was on the other side of the world. and it was nice to get to the hotel and settle down. But when Mariah sent that text about the letter, all she wanted to do was get unpacked and find it! She'd just got her hands on it and finished reading it when there was a knock at the door. Devon panicked when he saw her face when she opened the door. My god Tessa what happened? he asked we've only been here a little while. "Mariah" sniveled Tessa. Has something happened back home? Is she okay? I'm sorry said Tessa pulling herself together. She wrote me an old-fashioned love letter. I've just finished reading it. Thank God for that said Devon relieved. I had a vision of canceling all the concerts and finding flights to get us all back home again. Tessa smiled. I'm sorry to have worried you. It just got me. She never does stuff like this normally. So, when I received a text from her, telling me she had hidden something in my carry-on case, I couldn't wait to get here and open it. And as you can see, when I did and read it, it made me very emotional. Anyway, besides that, what are you doing here? Oh, I just wanted to make sure you were okay before we settle down and get some well-deserved sleep.
I'm fine, thanks for checking up on me. I'm going to read my wife's letter again, have a shower, and then hit the sack. Have I any promo or anything I have to get up for? Tessa asked. No, I have given us all of tomorrow off. I just have to go off and give the venue the once over, and that's about it. So, you just rest up, and maybe we can meet up for lunch later? Later? questioned Tessa Don't you mean tomorrow? Seeing as we're in darkness here. Devon smiled. Bloody jet lag is kicking in already. As he was about to leave, Tessa stopped him. If I wake up starving in a few hours, can we still get room service? Yes, said Devon I made sure you can get it twenty-four-seven. In fact, I don't know why you don't order yourself something now before you settle down. I think I will, said Tessa my poor stomach is out of sync. Also, I might try and get hold of Mariah, and thank her for the letter. Great idea said Devon but don't forget to work out the time difference first. Of course, not said Tessa. Mariah would kill me if I woke her up. She's not really a morning person, you get grunts out of her until the middle of the day. Devon laughed as he left the room.
Tessa did a little unpacking but kept most of it in her suitcase. Because if she emptied it all, she'd only have to repack it again in a week's time. That's the downside of tour life, always living out of a suitcase ninety percent of the time. Once she had finished up, she ordered herself a chicken salad, just to tie her over until the morning. That's if she woke up in time for breakfast. Her eyes were getting heavy, so she decided not to talk to Mariah face to face., just in case she fell asleep. So, she messaged her instead, which read as follows. Hi, my love, as you know we got here safe and sound. I Miss you all so much. I'm just having a salad, yes, I know feeding my stomach as usual, before I try and get some sleep. We have the day off tomorrow so I shall talk to you all then. I love you and thank you for the lovely letter, it made me cry. Kisses for you and the kids, night, you're loving wife xxxxx. She got her charger, turned her phone off and plugged it in, and then got under the sheets. Within seconds of her head touching the pillow, Tessa fell fast asleep. Back home in Genoa City, the grandparents were already up with the twins. Mariah offered to have them, but the parents would have none of it.
It was seven in the morning, and Mariah had worked out that it was one in the morning in New Zealand. She'll be fast asleep by now hopefully thought Mariah. Just as her phone pinged. Awe said Mariah she sent me a message before she crashed. It made Mariah laugh and cry all at the same time as she read it. Cry because of the nice things Tessa had said and laugh because Tessa mentioned food. She lives by her stomach she's always hungry. Mariah sent her a message back, to say everyone was just waking up. And to remind her that she was eighteen hours in front of Genoa City timewise. So, she would have to pick her moment to call. Mariah quickly worked out that if Tessa called after eleven in the morning her time, it would be around five in the evening in Genoa City, which meant she could catch the kids before bedtime. She sent the message before Bowie and Crystal descended on her in the bed. Mariah had a very busy day at Jabot, making sure all the marketing for Tessa's concerts in New Zealand was up and running. She also got hold of the Marchetti crew who were styling Tessa for the tour and made sure that they had everything they needed, and that everything had arrived okay and traveled well on the cargo plane.
