After we gave the ship and the gold of the dolphin pirates to Dionysus we headed east. We hoped the tribute would be enough that Dionysus would help us fight the giant twins.

Jason and I had to practically force Percy to get sleep. After the show he put on tonight he needed it.

"It's fine man. Give someone else a chance to save the ship," Jason says.

"But-" Percy starts.

"No. Go. We'll be fine for a while. Jason and I are perfectly capable," I say.

He reluctantly turns and goes down to our cabin.

"I didn't think that there'd be a day where I had to force him to go to sleep," I tell Jason.

He nods and laughs. I stare out at the vast sky. I start thinking about mom. I barely talked to her before I left. We talked twice a week. She needed it since she had been so worried about Percy disappearing. I told her we were going to go get him. I didn't really want to mention the prophecy. She doesn't know where we are right now.

We fly for a while until we get to Rome. I realize Percy is still sleeping.

"I'll go get him," Jason says.

I kind of forgot he was still there. We really hadn't moved at all.

We start our decent over Rome. Percy comes up positioning himself next to me. He's been extra clingy lately after Chrysaor's attack. I didn't mind him being there. I think he is nervous still about me and him turning out like Chysaor and Pegasus.

The city sparkled. I had seen cities before, obviously being from New York, but the sheer vastness of tone was breath taking.

"We're setting down in that park and hoping the mist will make us look like a giant pigeon," Leo says.

The Roman's below didn't seem to notice us. There wasn't any screaming or anything.

The noise of tragic was all around us, but the park itself was peaceful.

"I think I know where we are," Jason says, "that's the tomb of Scipios."

"Scipios.... Reyna's Pegasus?" Percy says.

"No," Annabeth says, "They we're a noble Roman family, and wow.... This place is amazing."

Jason nodded, "I've studied maps of Rome before. I've always wanted to come here, but..."

No body bothered to finish that sentence.

"Plans?" Hazel asks, "Nico has until sunset- at best. And the entire city is supposedly getting destroyed today."

"You're right. Annabeth.... Did you zero in on that spot from you bronze map?" Percy asks.

"Yes. It's on the river river. I think I can find it, but I should-" Annabeth starts.

"Take me along," Percy says, "yeah your right."

And there's the fatal flaw. Personal loyalty. He's not leaving her alone- ever.

"I'll go with you as far as the Tiber river," Percy says.

They argue for a moment.

"Fine," Annabeth says, "Hazel, now that we're in Rome, do you think you can pinpoint Nico's location?"

Hazel blinked like she was coming out of a trance, "Um hopefully. I'll have to walk around the city. Frank, would you come with me?"

Frank beamed, "absolutely."

"And.... Uh Leo," Hazel added, "It might be a good idea if you came along. The fish centaurs said we'd need you help with something mechanical."

"Yeah. No problem," Leo says.

"Jason, Phoebe, and I can watch the ship," Piper says.

I felt intrusive. Like I was invading her alone time with him.

"Good idea. How about we plan to meet back here at.... What?"

"Three this afternoon?" I suggest, "it might be layaway we can rendezvous and still hope to find the giants and save Nico. If something happens to try and change the plan, try and send an Iris message."

The other nodded in agreement. Most of us looked at Annabeth though. She was on her own schedule. She could be back three, later than that, or even never. She's in her own.

Coach grunted, "Percy, Annabeth.... I do t like the idea of you two on your own. Remember: behave. If I hear of any funny business you'll be grounded til the river styx freezes over."

"We'll be back soon," Percy promised, "good luck everyone."

Leo lowered the gangplank and  Percy and Annabeth were first off the ship.
