The Gods Join The Fight

I look up as the clouds parted over the Acropolis. Instead of blue sky's I see the gods charging down from on high.

In the front was Zeus. Nike breaks free from her nets and flys to his side, taking her rightful place as charioteer.

Before all the gods landed their chariots disappear and they hit the ground now human sized.

My dad comes to me and my twins side. He grasps our shoulders before Percy and I charge in at the twin giants, Otis and Ephialtes.

Percy took Ephialtes while I took Otis. Our dad made some hits whenever he could.

My shoulder still burns. But I push through and keep up the fight. To quit because of a shoulder injury would be pathetic.

I see all my friends fighting their giant with their parent. I see Athena standing at Annabeth's side. They drive Enceladus to a metal scaffolding and it collapses on him.

Frank and Ares smash their way through a an entire phalanx of giants. Frank, or who I assume was frank in elephant form , disembowel them.

Hazel and Hecate disappear into the mist whenever a giant came near. I didn't see hades but whenever a giant stumbles and falls the ground breaks open and the giant is snapped up and swallowed.

Piper was quite impressive. She fences with Periboia, sword against sword. Despite the fact that her opponent was five times larger than her, she seemed to be holding her own. Aphrodite floated around her yelling encouragement and strew rose petals in the giants eyes.

Leo was on the deck of the Argo ll shooting the ballistae, dropping hammers on giants head, and blowtorching them. Behind him at the helm was a burly man in a mechanics uniform. Hephaestus was tinkering with the controls trying desperately to keep the shift aloft.

Jason and Zeus were taking on the king. They were fighting Porphyrion.

The weird part though was Thoon who was being beaten up by none other than three old ladies. Even the fates had decided to fight.

I refocused on my battle. The giants actually seemed to be tiring out. Percy and I, while still injured, we're looking good compared to them.

"Phoebe give us a good shake!" My dad yells.

"I can't, Gaea-" I start.

"You can! Gaea is just soil. You shake the soil and more. Knock these giants down!" My dad yells.

Percy takes over both giants with my dad. Although Poseidon looks back at me every few seconds.

I was going to make one. Even if I had to force it. I think about the unfairness of it all. About Travis, Percy, and my mom. About what will happen if I fail.

The ground jerks violently beneath me. The giants topple faster than the rest. Although soon most of my friends and even a few gods were on the ground. Basically the only people left standing were the Poseidon crew. I hear a crash. I had taken out another building, but this time I was proud.

I had done this on purpose this time. I took control of it. I wasn't going to let them control my emotions. That building falling showed my powers, what I was really capable.

The giants struggle to get back up, but my friends and the gods make a quick recovery. They stand back up rapidly and attack.

I jump back in and take a slice at Ephialtes. He roars in pain. My dad steps in between my brother and I. His trident morphs into a fire hose. He sprays it at them. The water takes shape of a horse. The twins go flying out of the Parthenon.

The flood of tiredness hits me from the earthquake. That was by far one of the biggest I'd ever made. I stumble, but Percy catches me. He slings my arm over his neck helping me stand.

"My turn to carry you," he says smiling.

I think of all the times I've had to haul his tired limp body around.

The only thing left of the giants was ash.

The Argo ll was barely aloft. But what matters is my friends were ok.

"I knew you could do it," says dad.

"It felt good," I say.

"That's because you'd been restricting it. Trying to hold it in. You let it go, you took control," he says.

I lift my head and smile. You'd think I wouldn't want a gods validation anymore but that made my heart leap.

"You did good, Pheebs," Percy says repositioning me on his shoulder.

Percy scans the crowd for Annabeth. I see her next to her mom. He doesn't say he wants to go check on her, but I know he does.

"Go," I say, "go on. I'll be fine."

"I love you so much right now," he says hugging me. I feel my shoulder burn again. I kind have to push him off, "Sorry forgot. Is your shoulder fine?"

"Maybe," I say, "it's defiantly more than a cut. I had to have sprained it or something. I'll be fine for now."

He looks at me like he's a little scared to let go. He reluctantly lets go and I stumble a little, but ultimately regain my balance.

He runs off. I see him kiss Annabeth. It makes my heart ache a little, but I'll be back to Travis soon.
