Wise men say, "Only fools rush in."

"Nathan," My voice is quiet, "What are you doing here?"

"y/n," He stands in the doorway, staring at me with an unreadable expression.

"Did you walk? Nathan, it's raining. Why are you out at this time of night? Come inside, I can make hot chocolate," I take his hand and tug it gently, but he doesn't move.

But I can't help falling in love with you

"Nathan," I whisper, "Are you okay?"

"y/n, let's go outside," He pulls me out onto the porch.

"It's cold, and you're already wet," I plead.

"Just come."

I follow him down the porch into the night.

Shall I stay? Would it be a sin?

The rain is cool against our skin, and for some reason, we both start laughing giddily. The grass is soft beneath our bare feet.

"y/n," Nathan pulls me closer, "Dance with me."

He wraps his arms around my waist.

If I can't help, falling in love with you?

"We don't have music," I whisper.

"What if I hummed?"

I raise an eyebrow, "Sure."

Like a river flows, surely to the sea

I smile up at Nathan. He stops humming.

"Remember the first time we met?" He asks me.

I stifle a laugh, "Yes, I outran you on the track."

"I prefer to think of it as the time you included the new kid," He laughs, spinning me around.

"Awww," I crow, wrapping my arms back around his neck.

Darling, so it goes. Some things are meant to be.

"I remember how long it took you to ask me out," I say, nudging him.

In the darkness, I can barely make out a faint blush.

"I was too embarrassed. You were so special and—"

I tip toe, kissing his cheek, "I don't care."

Take my hand, take my whole life too.

"Do you want to know why I walked here? In the rain?"

I shrug, "It will come up eventually."

He shakes his head, pulling me closer once again.

"For I can't help falling in love with you."
