Sophie groaned as she woke up in a strange white tent.

She turned her head to see Fitz's unmoving body sleeping in a cot next to her. She attempted to push her body up only to cry out in pain and lie back down. The cry caught the attention of Elwin, the doctor that Sophie had a nasty habit of revisiting, and it caused him to rush over.

"I don't think so Ms. Ruewen. When Fitz broke the fall with his telepathy the shock severely damaged your sternum and even slightly bruised your lung, I'm afraid. Mr. Vacker is experiencing similar injuries. The Magma Titan has been subdued, and the school is in the middle of being investigated." Elwin explained, looking through an assortment of bottles and medicines before grabbing one and bringing it over to Sophie.

"The Council honestly doesn't think it could be anyone else but the Neverseen. Right?" Sophie asked, taking the bottle from Elwin.

"They haven't announced anything official yet, but we all know it to be true." Elwin sighed, carefully watching Sophie gulp down the bottle.

Suddenly someone cursed out from next to her. Sophie turned around and grinned as she saw Fitz lying down in a similar position, wiping blood from the corner of his mouth.

"Don't kill me when we fall, he said. I'm a dumb bitch, he said." Sophie chided from over in her cot.

"I got us out of there! Did you see any other way to get out?" Fitz replied, annoyed, yet grinning.

"I leave you for three minutes, maybe five, and you and my brother nearly get killed trying to take on a magma titan on your own and throw yourselves out a window!" Biana scolded, barging into the tent.

"I mean, I didn't plan it. I was just going to class!" Sophie argued.

Biana gave her a look at then her eyes dart to her brother.

"And you." Biana started, pointing a finger at Fitz. Fitz presses his back against the bed, his eyes wide as he watched his sister rant on.

Sophie smiled and attempted to get up again, this time succeeding, and walked over to the tent exit. She was wearing some warm loose light brown pants with a loose green long sleeve shirt. Sophie recognized the clothing from her closet at home, so that must mean her parents visited her and brought her things from her room.

Sophie smiles as she thought of her parents, Grady and Edaline. Fitz found Sophie in front of the school of Performing Arts in Paris, where she was living with her human family, and brought her here. She explained that she couldn't remember anything before age nine and that is when she started to be able to read minds. The elves couldn't figure out why she couldn't remember her childhood before nine. The only thing that Sophie felt was right was a silver amulet around her neck shaped to be like wings with a blue jewel set in the middle. She didn't know why, but she never takes it off, no matter what. She has had it even before she was nine.

Grady and Edaline lost their daughter Jolie in a horrible fire many years ago, and they were cautious of Sophie when they first met her. But she reminded them so much of Jolie they grew to love and care for her. They tried to find her parents or anything about her lineage but came up dry. So they decided to adopt her.

As Sophie's mind drifted to her parents, she heard a loud flash coming out from the courtyard. The medics tent was set up on a hill overlooking the courtyard so Sophie could clearly see the Council appearing in a flash of light on a stage in the courtyard, surrounded by angry parents, students, and teachers.

Emery walked forward and addressed the crowd, his arms wide open as if he was accepting a hug.

"We are here to inform the affected citizens of this tragedy about the information we have gathered." Emery started. Everyone went quiet, and Sophie leaned against the pole holding up the tent with her arms crossed her eyebrows pressed down in concentration.

"We have learned that the creature, now being officially identified as a Magma Titan, made its way into the building using an underground tunnel with vent like holes strategically placed all around it, so it would not overheat. Since the Magma Titans are not underground-dwelling creatures and along with the tunnel being so well built" Emery took a pause. "We believe the attack to be foul play." After that comment, the crowds gasped and quietly murmured among themselves.

"Please have no fear. The Titan has been subdued. And only around nine students were injured!" Emery announced, trying to regain control of the crowds. The Council began to start answering questions.

"Who were the students injured and how severely?" A voice asked from within the crowds.

"Only two students were significantly injured. A 17 year old boy and a 16 year old girl, who are healing in our medical tent set up on the hill. The rest of the injuries were only small scrapes and bruises. The students are all over 15 because the Magma Titan was released in the older levels of Fox Fire." Emery explained.

"How did you manage to subdue the Titan?" Another voice cried out from the crowds.

Emery sighed and look at the voice.

"We didn't. The Black Swan were the ones to subdue it."
