Big chapter today, as promised! Hope you like it! Sorry about the spelling mistakes BTW

Maha POV

Maha watched as Emery strided into the conference room, him nervously eyeing everyone and everything. Maha kept her hands tight around her files, Emery looking at her as they walked towards the daunting room.

"What are you thinking?" Emery said quietly. Maha kept her eyes forward.

"Gwen-"

"That's not my name." Maha snapped, keeping her eyes forward. Emery glared at her, his mouth agape.

"What do you mean-"

"You seriously think we don't know?" Maha seethed, her eyes never meeting his. Emery was quiet, his hands shaking at his sides. His face slowly turned into a scowl, and he stopped dead, staring at Maha.

"You are one of them, aren't you?" Emery whispered. Maha turned to him, her face blank.

"How can you live with yourself?" Maha asked blankly. Emery looked like a gaping fish.

"Guards-" Maha pulled a knife out from the back of her elven dress and pressed it into Emery's stomach, the tip of the steel threatening to break through the skin. Emery's breathing came out in short puffs, staring at the knife with a paling face. Maha's eyes had a dangerous glint, but her face was deadly calm.

"Even if you called out, not a single guard will come for you. My Mentore made sure that everyone knew just what kind of person you are, and I don't think your guards are very loyal to their backstabbing Elvin leader." Maha whispered. Maha readjusted her grip on the blade, making sure he knew how easily she could push it through his fancy clothing and into his gut.

"I'm sorry-"

"I'm not Inalian, but I am a part of the guild from Inalia. You don't get the right to say sorry Councilor; innocent blood is on your hands." Maha whispered.

"I wasn't at the alleged attack when we released the location of Inalia to the Neverseen they said they wouldn't harm anyone-"

"You are a damn Elven world leader; you are supposed to be smart. Betraying all those innocent Vatarians? The Elves have been nothing but cruel and annoying to the Vatarians for all of existence, even though you descent from us. None the less, from our hidden cities, whenever you did try to contact us, we treated you with friendship and warmth. And this is how you repay us?"

"I needed to do what was best for my people," Emery quietly argued back.

"But what about my people? People are terrified of the elves because of your actions Emery. First Inalia, what next? Are you going to steal supplies from Avrima in the name of the elves? Or backstab the Governor of Cariana to control one of the cities for the right of the elves? Don't try to justify your actions, innocent blood was spilled because of you and only you, along with your sniveling councilor partners, Nolan and Viela, was it?" Maha snarled. Emery swallowed, and Maha saw something shine in his eyes that she wasn't expecting.

Regret.

Maha sighed and sheathed her knife, but pulled another small item out of her dress. A carved wooden Alicorn, made from the sea birch wood of the Inalian beaches. She held it delicately in her palm, gazing over every single detail of it, before extending it to Emery. Emery took the horse, his hands shaking, and observed it.

"There is a woman, in the market, who everyone knows. She is the kindest soul you would ever meet; she sells fresh produce and spices for all Inalians to buy. My Mentore will ride all across the countryside just to buy her produce, and no one else's because no one deserves the money more than her." Maha explained quietly. Emery eyed both Maha and the Alicorn nervously.
