Sophie, Lilac, Keefe, and Biana have finally found the entrance into the Dunmer Kingdom, hoping to find Ruy, but they were forced to leave behind Ricin in order to come off as nonhostile and peaceful. Sophie struggles to remain calm and orderly, panicked about her right-hand man and lover, but with her friends at her side, she is willing to plunge into the city of the Vatarian's worst enemy. There is no telling how the Dunmer will react to the presence of the Vatarians and elves, but that is a risk they are forced to take in order to save Ruy.

Alexios and the guild panic at Dex's recent discovery of Honing devices hidden all around Inalia, and the call every Assassin back to the guildhall, worried at the fact that the security and secrecy of Inalia may be compromised. Maria and the other elves carry the news of the oncoming siege of the Lost Cities to the already panicked Guildhall, hoping it isn't too late.

Ruy learned of his Dunmer father and heritage, refusing to accept it and shutting it down. Not only does Ruy have the blood of the Dunmer pumping through his veins, but he shares the blood with the Dunmer King, making him the Lost Prince of the Dunmer Kingdom. Ruy has no need or want to join the Dunmer in any way, but when he learns that the Neverseen march on the Lost Cities, he is forced to swallow his pride and accept training from his father in order to train himself in the ways of the Dunmer. Ruy's mind focuses on the wellbeing of innocents, but most of all, returning to Sophie, his lover and dearest friend. Ruy is forced to balance what he can tell his father and the Dunmer, and what he must keep secret.

Sanaa, one of the only living Ancient Vatarians, prowls through the raw untouched lands of Inalian and Vatarian cities, hoping to find others like her. Her hope is that when she finds the other Ancient Vatarians, which she knows are alive deep in her heart, they will be able to return to the Vatarian cities and bring the Vatarians back into the olden ways of their people, and teach them to not fear their Pancras side, but embrace it. She hopes to close the bridge between ancient Vatarians and modern ones. But the bandits, Mirthless, and other strifes along the way may beat her down before her words of peace may ever make it to the other Ancient Vatarians.

The world is falling into disarray and bloodshed, and the Vatarian cities are in disarray and panicked. There is no telling of the future, the only that was promised of the future was war.

In the next book, blood and love, tears and screams, family and enemies will be filling each word you read.
