; soulmate au where one can see colours only when one has met their soulmate, and when one's soulmate dies, the colour fades away

ever since sugawara met kimberly, his world took on colour. he was no longer living in a world of black and white, but a full-on, coloured world. that's right, she was his soulmate, and he was hers.

now, on this one day in spring when the sakuras were in full bloom, sugawara decided to meet kimberly at this cafe that sold really nice cakes and drinks across the street. he managed to get a good seat right next to the windows to also observe the falling sakura petals and enjoy their meal together.

retrieving his phone, he decided to tell her that he was in the cafe already.

sugawara: hey, i'm in the cafe already! ^-^

kimberly happened to be online and underneath her name, it read "typing". suddenly, it changed to "last seen at 2.05 p.m." just as he heard a loud crashing sound coming from the outside. sugawara whipped his head to face the window to see a car and a body of someone on the ground covered in blood. he squinted his eyes and caught a glimpse of purple-rimmed glasses.

no, it can't be.

breathing heavily, he rushed outside to have a look.

please don't let it be her, please don't let it be her... he chanted in his head.

he stopped dead in his tracks with his eyes widened. it was kimberly, lying in an awkward position on the road. some of her hair was in her face, some stained with streaks of red. one of the lens of her glasses had cracked, smeared with crimson liquid. half of her her light pink jacket was stained with blood, as well as her jeans.

she opened her eyes a crack as he bent down next to her, cradling her in his arms.

"k... koushi?" she croaked, inhaling his scent on his jacket.

"shh... don't speak. you're okay," he said, tears streaming down his face as he patted her head, before yelling to the bystanders, "don't stand there! do something! call the ambulance!"

she coughed against his chest, causing blood to stain on his clean jacket.

"i... i'm s... sorry..." she said, "i... i..."

as her life began to slowly fade away, the colour from the world they shared began fading along as well.

sugawara refused to believe she was dying and held her tighter.

"kimberly... please don't leave...!" he sobbed, crying into her shoulder.

"w... we all have to go someday, koushi," she said, putting her arms around him.

she inhaled, for the last final time, before whispering, "goodbye, koushi. i love you."

her eyes closed, and the last colour faded away from the world around him. his world was back into a monochrome black and white picture.

tears poured from his eyes as he hugged her lifeless and cold body close to his warm one, never wanting to let her go, never wanting to believe she was not going to be by his side anymore.
