(inspired by my shitty past , and get ready for some ooc kags)

the saying "the people that smile the brightest are the saddest, the ones that laughs the most are the ones crying all the time, and the wisest ones are the ones who are the most broken" is true. weren't people extreme in the area contrasting to the area they try to hide from others?

(^^ creds to qian)

it applies to everyone.

and i really mean everyone.

qq may seem like a ball of sunshine, the kind that doesn't really give a damn if she gets bad grades, messy hair or people who hate her.

but she does care. just that she tries to hide it.

after all, scars can be reopened. and she was trying to paste many band-aids over her scars, so that people couldn't reopen them.

she fakes smiles when she is hurting and listens to others' problems, but she doesn't tell people the problems that she face herself.

this one day she returned back to her dorm after a shitty day at college. kageyama wasn't back yet, which she didn't really mind.

she did her usual routine of showering first, then cooking some dinner for the both of them. she left his share covered on the table top before going into her room to finish her homework. once that was done, she went ahead to practice her instruments, about an hour each.

by the time she was finishing her homework up, kageyama came home. he went ahead to have his shower first as she went to get her scores first.

as he began doing his homework, she began practicing. this time, something in her playing made him alert.

usually, when she was practicing, each mood of the piece would be there. sure, when she was very high and triggering her friends, the moods are all wrong, especially for the sad pieces. however, when she was practicing or onstage, she would put her mind and soul into it to play the piece with the correct feeling.

but this time, it was different.

there was a sadder tune to all the pieces, like how more blue is being painted into a picture. it wasn't like her to play her songs like that.

kageyama was walking past qq's room to head to his own to sleep. she didn't talk to him for the whole night, and it was kind of weird.

as he was sauntering past her door, he could hear the sounds of sniffling coming from behind it. he stopped in his tracks to listen to it again. yep, it was crying sounds all right.

slowly, he opened her door and stepped inside. quickly, qq wiped her tears away and sat up in bed as he sat on the opposite side of where she was sitting.

"oi," he said in a firm yet gentle tone, "why were you crying?"

she gave a light laugh before saying, "who said i was crying? anyway, it's time for you to go and get some sleep."

she proceeded to get off the bed and then try and drag him off the bed and into his own room, but he didn't budge.

"i'll go only if you tell me why you were crying," he said.

she gave a sigh and sat down next to him.

"fanfictions," she lied, "angsty ones. now come on. into bed you go."

"you don't cry like that when you read sad fanfics," he said.

qq averted her gaze.

"you can tell me. i won't tell anyone," kageyama said.

she looked into his eyes and asked, "promise?"

he nodded.

she took a deep breath and told him everything that happened in the day. tears began pricking at her eyes and she proceeded to wipe them away, but he beat her to it and wiped them away for her.

"it's okay," he said, "they were assholes, and they're not even worth your tears. i'll stand by you."

he gave her a few awkward pats on the back.

"thanks, kags," she said after she was done crying, "even though you suck at comforting people."

"u-urusai," he said, looking away.

she chuckled before saying, "okay, seriously, time for you to get some shut-eye."

she got up and led him to his room before saying, "goodnight."

"goodnight," he muttered before closing the door.
