qq lay facedown on the bed and let out a long, drawn out groan. she had screwed up bad for the competition and she wanted to be stabbed.

kageyama opened her bedroom door and stepped inside.

"a-are you... okay?" he asked slowly as he made his way towards her awkwardly. he was not good at comforting people and qq was one that never gets over her losses easily to begin with.

"hai, hai, daijoubu desu!" she said as she lifted her head and gave an overly huge grin while giving two thumbs-up. then, her lips dropped back into a frown and she collapsed back onto the bed, "what do you think?"

"it wasn't that bad, right?" he said, sitting down next to her.

"are you fucking kidding me?" she cursed through the pillow, "i fucked up bad, i missed a few notes, hell, i forgot the bass line for one bloody bar!"

he sighed and patted her back awkwardly.

"and now i can't get into the finals!" she yelled through the pillow, "because i played all the pieces instead of just one! just! one!"

she punctuated her words angrily and she let out another groan.

"you've got talent," he said, "for fuck's sake, you completed your diploma when you're fourteen!"

"i cleared my grade eight when i was eleven, and some other girl cleared it at a younger age," she muttered, "don't bother consoling me, tobio-chan. just in case you forgot, i'm a pessimist."

finally, he decided to just grab her hand and lead her down the stairs.

"hanase! what are you doing?" she yelled.

(t ; hanase = let me go)

he led her straight to the piano before letting her go. he sat down on the chair and opened it. he placed his slender fingers on the monochrome keys and began playing the only song he knew, with only the right hand.

twinkle twinkle little star.

qq couldn't even. his fingers were not in the correct position, neither was his entire right hand. his fingers were straightened out instead of bent, and his wrist was resting on the piano.

"oh my god! kags! wait! stop!" she yelled, putting her hands over his.

she adjusted his fingers into the correct position and lifted his wrist.

"geez, how do you even play like that?" she said.

"see what i mean?" he said, "i don't even know i was wrong. you do! you've! got! tablet... talon... talent."

his face was slightly pink as he continued, "anyway! you can play the piano and i can't! and your friends have lower skills than you! they can't sightread an anime score as quickly as you do! so feel better already, okay!"

she chuckled and gently took his hands away from the piano and closed it before saying, "alright. i get it."

he averted his gaze and she added, "but it doesn't stop me from wanting to stab myself for the competition."

"what the fuck?!"
