Alexander's POV.

I smile as John comes into the house.

"Put the TV on!" He says.

I nod and do as he said. He is looking like a child....

"What's going on?" I ask.

"You don't know?!" He asks.

I shake my head.

"I had a lot to do this morning—," I say.

"Come on! You're the political one!" He says.

"What does that have to do wi—?" I ask.

"Under president Obama, Supreme Court has noted that the Constitution guarantees marriage equality—."

I drop my pen, actually drop it.

"OH MY GOD!" I yell.

He nods.

"It's done! It's everywhere!" He says.

"Lord!" I say.

I haven't seen him as happy as when everyone he was trying to convince said that slave labor was wrong. There are still racists after all.....

"This is—this is so amazing!" I say.

He nods, jumping up and down in glee.

"That's one big step...," I say.

"About time it was taken!" He says.

I smile.

"But seriously! How didn't you know about the speech Obama gave?" He asks.

I shrug.

"I had a lot to do," I say.

He looks at me.

"How much is a lot then?" He asks.

I sigh and take my pen.

"A few pages," I say.

"C'mon! It's summer! Take a fucking break," he says.

"I can't. It's an important one," I say.

He laughs.

"Why can't they let you go for a summer?" He asks.

"Because I work," I say.

"You don't have to do so much. If you do more, you will get gray hair," he says.

"I already have some," I say.

"Come on! Take a break! It's a beautiful day outside. Birds are singing, flowers are blooming," he says.

"And I want death," I say.
