Jungkook rushed up the school stairway, attempting to catch Yoongi before the first period bell rang.Ever since last night when Yoongi ignored all his frequent texts, Jungkook had become more worried for the elder. He knew what kind of effect words like this had on Yoongi, and it made him even more anxious that it had to do with him being captain.
His worst insecurity.
As he turned a hallway corner, a short boy with dark brown hair was crouched down in front of a row of lockers.
"Yoongi?" Jungkook's voice trembled with worry.
Yoongi perked up at his name, and lifted his head out of his arms.
"Oh, hey Kookie," he said with a small sigh and looked back down at his shoes.
"Yoongi, why didn't you answer any of my texts or calls last night? Is it something to do with Ch-"
"No. I'm fine," Yoongi insisted, but you could still hear the hurt in his voice.
"I heard what he said to you after practice, I'm not stupid. Please talk to me," Jungkook said calmly as he went in to hug Yoongi. (uwu)
"I'm just worried that what Chul said is right. It's just that I always doubt that I even deserve to be team captain--I mean, I'm just an average player and there's nothing really special about me," Yoongi said, wiping his nose with a tissue and looking back at Jungkook with puppy-dog eyes.
"That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Yoongi, you're a great captain! You're the best player on our team but you're also humble and kind to everyone. Yeah, Chul's amazing at playing but his people skills don't match up with yours. Think about what kind of disaster it would be if he took your place as captain--everyone would be miserable."
Yoongi smiled at Jungkook's reassuring words, and curled up into his friend's side.
"Thanks, Kookie."
"You're welcome, and if he ever hurts you I'll warn the others so we can set up a battlefield and fight until dawn," he said with a chuckle.
"You're a dork," said Yoongi, laughing as well.
"I know!" Jungkook responded with sudden energy in his voice as he yanked Yoongi up off the floor.
Jungkook wrapped his arm around Yoongi's shoulder with a big smile on his face, and they both walked to first period together.

Jungkook's encouraging words did help Yoongi get through the day without wanting to poke his or Chul's eyeballs out.
The bell in the hallway rang suddenly, indicating that third period was over. Yoongi heaved a sigh as he hoisted his backpack over his shoulder and made his way into the crowded hallway.
Passing periods were always so stressful for him; everyone was jam packed together in slim hallways. It was even worse since Yoongi was pretty short and petite, with skinny limbs and a height of a whopping five feet and eight inches.
That might seem tall, but compared to the average height of 6'2", he was considered short.
Which only gave Chul another reason to mock him, because that guy was around 6'4', a perfect height for a sport like basketball.
Yoongi was so lost in his thoughts that he barely paid any attention to his surroundings, so he didn't notice when someone yanked his backpack, almost jerking him backwards onto his butt.
Swiftly turning around to see who did it, he wasn't surprised at all.
Chul.
Of course.
