I was fresh out of the shower, so I put lotion on my skin and started to get dressed. I was still tired. I yawned. My stomach rumbled. I'm hungry. It definitely felt like November. It was pretty cold, which I bet happened overnight or the heat would've been on already. I put on a rather thick sweater over my uniform. Mom was home from work today. I love it when she's home because we get to talk about stuff before school and she usually makes us something yummy to eat as well.
Jake: gm, play the 8 ball
I feel much better about the whole Jake thing. A boy being nice to me doesn't equate to something bad happening. Jaden, my long time friend, has always been super nice to me, but he's never wronged me in any way. Not everyone is bad.
"Bella, May I come in?"
"Sure El."
"I have to go. Hugs and kisses."
"Stay safe!"
"Same to you, honey. Have a great day."
"Bye!" When he left I fixed my hair into a high puff. I applied the gel to my hair while doing so before adding barrettes. I finished off with some lipgloss with a slightly red tint. I don't wear makeup to school. I like to be natural outside of dance competitions.
"Bella, Mommy said to come down for breakfast!"
"Okay, Lei! Let's go." I held my sister's hand as we went downstairs to the kitchen together.
"Morning, Mom."
"Morning Bell. Sleep well?"
"Yeah. Where's Noah?"
"He left already. He told me to tell you to text him before you get to school."
"Sure. What's for breakfast? I'm starving." She handed me my plate and I smiled.
"Blueberry pancakes! You're just amazing. Thanks, Mom!"
"Yeah, Mommy's the best cook ever!"
"Thanks, guys! Okay, you guys have ample time to eat before we leave at 8."
"Mommy, today we're going to have our spirit meeting! I'm excited! Wanna know why?"
"Why?"
"Because the school mascot is coming! And, we'll play activities."
"That sounds like so much fun!"
"Uh-huh. Mommy, are you gonna pick us up?"
"Of course! Bella, you have ballet today, don't forget your duffel."
"I won't."
"Okay, here are the lunches. Bella wanted leftovers and-"
"I wanted a yummy sandwich!" I couldn't help but laugh.
"Put your lunch in your bag Leia. Don't forget!"
"I'm doing it right now! I don't wanna forget lunch ever again!"

Park Ave. (Manhattan) (Olivia's Perspective)
I took the day off of work today. I needed a break, I was ridiculously tired.
"That sounds fishy, Amanda."
"I know, that's why I'm doing some digging. I'll get back to you when I find something."
"Alright. Bye." It was after 1 pm. I had time before I had to go pick the kids up. I just didn't know how to spend it.
Bella: Mom, where are you?!
Me: why are you texting me during class?!
Bella: 😐 :( I'm not even in class :( why would you assume that?!
Me: alright, so then what are you doing out of class?
Bella: I'm helping plan the field trip. Remember, I got permission to help? We're going to raise some money for it! You know, I'm thinking about doing spring sports next year. Maybe swim?
Me: oh yeah, you told me you were on the planning committee. About sports, do whatever makes you happy babe. Get back to work! Love you!
Bella: You're so boring! 🥺 love you!

Hm. What are we doing for dinner tonight? I randomly thought. Maybe chili wouldn't hurt. I have the ingredients already at home. I decided to start heading towards Noah's school since he was getting out early. It wouldn't take long to get over there. For the first time in a while, I truly felt like a mother. Spending more time with the kids, dropping them off at their activities or school. Asking them about their day. I didn't know that I wanted to do this so much. As much as I love my job, these moments mean so much to me.

Noah: Mom, thanks for picking me up! I got you something.

I smiled. I love this so much.

The Kitchen (Leia's Perspective)
"If Mary has 3 apples, and Jacob gives her 6 more apples, how much does she have in total?" I drew 3 apples.
"I know what to do, Mommy!" I wrote a plus sign and then drew 6 more apples.
"4,5,6,7,8,9! She has 9 apples Mom!"
"Great job, Leia! High five!"
"Is math your favorite?" Mommy asked.
"It's a little my favorite. I like spelling! It's really easy!"
"So then you like reading too?"
"Yes! I like fairy books a lot. Like the ones we always read together."
"Alright, I'll buy you many more fairy books. Let's finish up this homework, and then we can do something. Let's see, you have a few more math problems. These ones are a bit tricky, but I think you can do them."
"Yeah, I was the Math Queen in school remember?"
"I do! Okay, so Chrissy has 20 cupcakes! She gives 13 to Barrett, how much does she have now?"
"Mommy, that's the name of my friends. Christina and Barrett!"
"That's right! Let's see if we can solve the problem for them!"
"It looks a little tricky! But, hmm. It is a subtraction problem. So we can draw 20 circles!" I drew them.
"What do we do next?"
"We have to cross off 13 because that's how much Barrett took!"
"Good job! Go ahead and do it, baby!" It was a lot of circles! But, we got rid of them.
"There's seven left Mommy!"
"Good job!" We did the rest of the problems for the homework and Mommy and I decided that we should make some dinner together!
"What's for dinner?"
"Chili. Can you pass me the beans?"
"Yeah! Mommy what about the cheese?!"
"You just want to eat the cheese, don't you?"
"No...I wanna shred it.." Mommy laughed.
"We'll grate the cheese when the chili starts cooking. I promise."
"Can we have the leftover quesadilla?"
"Sure. I'll warm it up in a bit."
"Hello, my lovely ladies."
"Hi, Daddy. Where's my brother and my sister?"
"They went to Starbucks after I picked them up from dance and basketball." He gave Mommy and I a kiss and helped with dinner.
"I can't stay too long, I have to go back to work. How was your day, guys?"
"It was great. Leia and I have been having so much fun."
"My day was good! At school in Spanish class, we started reading Spanish books."
"That's awesome! Alright, let's get this dinner finished, all hands on deck!"

Home (7:45 PM) (Bella's Perspective)
The doorbell rang. Who could that possibly be? Elliot went back to work a while ago, Noah is playing video games, and Mom is getting Leia ready for bed. I guess I have to answer the door.
"Here goes nothing," I said quietly. I went to go open the door and the last person I expected to be there opened the door.
"Hey, Jake." What's going on?!
"Hey! Did you get my text?"
"Which one? My phone's upstairs."
"About the little party, we were having."
"Ohh. I'm sorry. I didn't see it. What's all of that?"
"We had some pieces of cake left, it's your favorite. Cookie dough."
"Oh, thank you! This looks so good!"
"There's enough for everyone to get one, and I saved you some chocolate for yourself."
"Thank you, this is so nice of you!"
"Don't mention it. I know you were having a bit of a bad day yesterday, just wanted you to know I'm here."
"I really appreciate it. Thanks," I smiled heavily and gave him a hug.
"I gotta go. My dad's waiting."
"Alright. I'll see you tomorrow! Tell him I said Hello!"
"I will! Bye!" I closed the door and turned around. Coast was clear. I put the cake in the fridge and attempted to go to my room with all of the chocolate, without someone seeing me. I walked upstairs quietly. Then mad dashed for my bedroom.
"Bella Benson! Where did this cake come from?!" Mom asked with a smile. Gosh, I didn't even get a chance to hide my stash.
"Jake brought it over!" I yelled.
"He did?! When did he come?!"
"A while ago!"
"Why didn't you tell me?! I would've given him the pie I made." I went back downstairs and Mom cut me a slice. Noah was eating it too.
"She didn't want to tell you he came over." He guessed.
"But why? You wouldn't have to hide that unless you had a reason to."
"I don't have a reason. I was going to tell you, I was just trying to do something. This cake is good."
"Was him bringing over the cake planned?"
"No. I didn't know he'd do this."
"Something's brewing."
"Shut up. Nothing's brewing."
"If nothing was brewing, why are you so sensitive."
"Because not only my friends but my family thinks something is happening! We're just really good friends. You guys are totally jealous."
"If you say so," I growled. Ace came over and jumped around.
"Ace, you're so hyper!" He began pestering Ryan and I couldn't help but laugh.
"Honestly though, I wouldn't mind Jake being your boyfriend if we keep getting these great cakes."
"Noah!"
"What?!"
"Me too! I like cake! I like Jake!" Leia said. I rolled my eyes and my Mom smiled. My siblings went to the rooms and she smiled at me.
"I know how much you like him." She whispered.
"I don't like him all that much."
"But, you do." I laughed. Mom sat next to me and continued to talk to me. We got to have some girl chat and it makes me feel really happy to have a mother who listens to me and my problems. I never feel judged when speaking to Mom, but I sometimes do feel a bit scared, not because she's scary, but because Mom is sooo overprotective. But I like that about her in a way. Because for a while when I was younger, I didn't have any protection.
