LATE IN the afternoon, daryl and rosaline were carving out arrows. just like old times sake. the marksman's mood seemed to have improved from yesterday as he made occasional chatter to her. that was until a guard on the wall started clanging a metal pipe.

"the saviors are coming!" he warned, waving them over.

the couple looked at each other in unison, enid jogging overlooking startled, "we have to get maggie."

daryl hopped off the bench, abandoning his tools, taking only the knife, "where is she?"

rosaline beckoned rhaegar over, "find maggie."

the dog nipped her hand gently as she ruffled him, then ran off in the direction in which he believed the woman was in. they couldn't let the saviors see them or that would be it.

vehicles approached in the distance, but fortunately, rhaegar had caught maggie running around, looking for them frantically. rosaline raced over to her, grabbing her hand and pulling her along.

"where should we go?" she asked.

daryl gazed around, eyes scanning for a possible solution, "we need to go out, that's for starters."

the pregnant woman looked at him, "we'll never make it in time."

enid took the lead, "come on!"

she led them over to two double doors in the ground which were built into the back of the cellar, the brunette wasn't sure if the saviors weren't gonna check down there for them. the safest place to be for them would be nowhere inside the hilltop.

"just stay down there." the teenager ordered, "i'll keep them away. they aren't the same ones who came to alexandria."

rhaegar slid down the steps while daryl made sure that maggie and rosaline went first as the doors to the cellar shut.

what were the saviors here for? a search party? she didn't know.

the young woman huddled in the corner behind a few stocked shelves with maggie. the cellar was quite tight, and it made her feel constricted. just like she had back in the forest. this was becoming a reoccurring problem in small, confined spaces.

meanwhile, daryl was tight up against the door, his knife gripped tightly in his hand. he was checking if any of the saviors were coming down there so he could finish them in one quick swoop. it was making the two girls impatient and suspenseful.

"daryl." maggie called to him repeatedly, as if begging that he'd come back and hide with them.

the marksman complied, going over to where rosaline was sitting on the floor with rhaegar. maggie had a hand on her shoulder, she could feel the girl shaking under her. although, she had no idea what the real reason was other than fear.
