AS DAWN broke, rosaline jolted awake as the cries of visenya echoed throughout the room. daryl grumbled something under his breath before propping himself up on his elbows and blinking the sleep away from his eyes. the woman tried to avoid crumbling on top of him as she got out of bed.

before she could fully rise he gave her a quick peck on the lips, "i'll go make the formula." he told her, slipping on a spare shirt that had been laying on the dresser.

she gave a grateful smile rubbing the tiredness away from her eyes as she approached the cot, "thank you, dare."

"don't worry 'bout it." he responded, walking out of the room.

rosaline was ever so thankful that daryl engaged with her so much when she needed it. it made all the work so much lighter - she couldn't imagine the sleepless nights that michonne had when she had been raising r.j as a baby. with two kids as well. that woman was stronger than she'd ever know.

the wails of her daughter ceased as visenya felt a pair of hands lift her up into the air, bouncing her up and down to comfort her. the baby sniffled, her hands grappling onto rosaline's tank top, feeling the fabric. after a few minutes, daryl came back up with a freshly filled bottle in his hand.

quickly, she took it from him with a nod of thanks and placed it to visenya's mouth who gladly started to suckle, "what time is it?"

he stared out the window, "probably about time to get up."

    "michonne and carol up?"

the marksman gave a curt nod, "yeah. so is judith. something happened with the fence at hilltop, so she's sending out a convoy, she asked for us to stay back here. besides we got visenya, don't wanna spend more time away than we have to now."

rosaline understood how he thought and agreed with him. they'd spent the whole morning with their daughter, playing around. rhaegar and horizon were especially fond of the baby, laying around in her in spots and licking at her fingers whenever she tried to grab their pelt. rosa knew the dogs would do her no harm, ever. daryl knew that too.

when dinner came around, visenya had fallen asleep after the two took a walk around the community. many people were fond of the new addition to the family and stopped to have a conversation with the new mother. daryl wasn't the most talkative but he could hold it out.

even aaron had come around to have a chat with them when he wasn't training people to battle. sometimes, rosaline could spot lydia walking around the community doing her own thing. the teenage girl would help out, harvesting fruits and vegetables and training herself in combat with a similar styled stick that henry used to have - it was a way for her to honor him.
