Enki x Reader: Moonlit Confession

I'm not sure how romance works so this is the best any of my oneshots have gotten to 'romantic' XD

"You skipped put on work today." A deep voice interrupts the comforts of silence that filled the air.

"Enki. What are you doing here?" You tear your eyes away from the ocean and stare at your friend in shock.

"You are in no position to ask such a question." Enki walks forward.

Your eyes widen and soon turn away from him. You both stood on a high cliff around the west sea shore of the island Nanba Prison stands proudly on.

"It's nice here." You say after a long silence.

"I won't deny that." He replies.

You glance up at your tall friend-who you secretly have a crush on-and smile. A pink hue dusted your cheeks.

"Enki...I was wondering-" You start before you got cut off.

"I have a fiancé." He replied. You gawk at him. Your heart ached but you still kept a happy and surprised face.

"Th-that's great!" You force a huge smile.

"I was kidding." He says a bit amused.

"Huh?" You raise an eye brow.

He only stares ahead at the sun setting. You decided to be mad at him later. This moment was too beautiful to ruin over a simple prank. Even if it was cruel, you let Enki off the hook for his little 'joke'.

"Will you be coming tomorrow? To work I mean." Enki's eyes doesn't leave the sun setting. The sky becomes many different colours, slowly fading into a beautiful midnight blue colour.

"Yeah I will. I just needed a day off. I'm just lucky if I'm not fired for taking a day off when I didn't request it or have it scheduled." You sulk.

"I'm sure you'll be fine." He pats your head.

You let him do as he pleases and just rest against him.

A few moments later, the sun and moon had switched places. Instead of the bright sun, it was now the sparkling moon.

"Enki." You start.

"Hm."

"Do you think....do you think I will find my true love someday?" You ask a bit embarrassed.

"No." He replies bluntly.

"Hey!" You shout a bit annoyed.

He then continued. "I don't think you will because I'm positive you have already met him long ago."

You stare up at him longingly before looking down. A heavy blush burns your face and your eyes sparkle as happy thoughts cloud your mind. A small yet dumb smile on your cute face.
