Ink always hid the fact he was soulless. No one knew where ink came from. No one knew any of ink's abilities. No one knew any of Ink's weaknesses. No one knew ink was emotionless. They knew nothing about ink aside from ink's kind yet determined personality and the fact that he was creator of au's. Everyone believed ink was in the class of being considered Lawfully Good but in all honesty, Ink was secretly at least considered as Chaotic Neutral as a bare minimum though, he could become worse if he so chose but no one knew that ink was Chaotic Neutral. Though, ink's friends did wonder a lot of things about ink. Such as why ink would have little vials of paint on a strap across his chest. Ink would drink the paint from the vials to be able to fake an emotion but of course, he'd never let anyone see him drink the paint since well, he thought people would think he was weird for drinking paint. But what happens if ink's best friend Dream catches him drinking paint to fake an emotion? How would Dream react to ink actually being emotionless and soulless?
