A soft humming could be heard throughout the Dimitrescu castle as the day went on. The source? Myself, Lady Dimitrescu's newest and most promising maid.

I had just entered the music room with a basket of fresh flowers in one hand and a bucket of cleaning supplies in the other when the familiar sound of buzzing insects grew closer to me and caused me to stop humming. This was a daily occurrence. I'd save the opera hall for last — seeing as how the daughters would be finished playing with the other servants around the time I got around to cleaning it.

It surprised me that they were fine with me playing their piano but, I wasn't going to question it — or even how they had managed to find out that I could play. Once I had finished cleaning, the three daughters stepped out of their fly shrouds and walked over to me. Only when one of them cleared their throat did I stop examining the new flowers — trying to find out which ones I needed for the opera hall — to give them my full attention. I turned to them and bowed my head, smirking at their scoffs and whines.

"We told you to stop doing that," Daniela grumbled before lightly hitting my shoulder. "No other servants are around, no need to be so formal."

"I deeply apologize, my ladies." I lifted my gaze to look at them before I turned back to the flowers. "Any requests while I figure out which flowers to put in here for now?"

It remained silent as I switched out the flowers once I had settled on choosing to place the crocus banaticus flowers in the vase. I grew worried at their lack of response and glanced back at them, a small pout on my face.

"No requests?"

When they shook their heads, I simply giggled before making my way toward the piano. That was always their response, but they usually verbalized it. I wanted to ask them why they didn't today but I opted out of that and lifted the fallboard, placing my fingers on the keys. Before I had the chance to play, the girls surrounded me; Cassandra and Daniela resting their chins on my shoulders while Bela rested hers on my head.

"Play for us?" Bela asked softly. 'That's different. They've never asked that and they definitely never got this close to me.'

"Of course, my ladies," I whispered before pressing on the keys, my fingers playing the tune of Beethoven's Piano Sonata No. 14*.

As I played, I heard the clicking of heels heading our way — causing panic to set in. I wasn't sure if my lady would be pleased with me playing her piano. Although her daughters were, she never gave permission — nor any indication that she knew I played for her daughters. The quiet giggles from the girls told me they could hear my heart quicken — which resulted in my face getting hot.

Once the doors to the opera hall opened, I froze. My fingers trembled on the keys as they stopped halfway through the song. The girls let out quiet complaints before standing up straight to greet their mother, the pouts on their faces being heard in their greeting.

I snapped out of your shock and slowly stood, bowing to my lady. "I'm deeply sorry, my lady. I'm re—"

She cut me off with a chuckle and I could feel her gold eyes burning through my soul. I swallowed hard and stood up straight before leading my gaze to meet hers. My body trembled as I waited for her to say something — anything. When she motioned toward the piano, I simply stood there in confusion.

When I heard all four women laugh, my body started to heat up from embarrassment again, letting me know I had a dumbfounded look on my face. The next thing I knew, the girls had me sitting on the bench again and facing the piano.

"It appears my daughters enjoy it when you play for them, so I have one request; play for all of us." Lady Dimitrescu finally spoke, taking long, elegant strides toward the piano.

"As you wish, my lady." With that, I started playing again and the girls went back to resting their chins on me.

Once the song ended, the sisters placed kisses on my head before flying off to "play" with more maids. I nervously closed the fallguard and stood up, gaze glued to the floor as a gloved finger slipped under my chin and slowly tilted my head up until I locked eyes with your lady. I was grateful she had knelt down so I didn't have to strain my neck too much.

"I would like for you to play for us every day. Judging by how my daughters treated you, I think it's safe to say you're their favorite maid. Now I know why." As she spoke, the warmth of pride swelled in my chest and I had to bite the inside of my cheek to stop the stupid grin that wanted to spread across my face. "Not to mention; you do an excellent job at picking out the flowers."

She looked like she was about to stand to her full height but before she did, she pressed a gentle kiss to my cheek, chuckling when she heard my heart starting to race. Once she was at full height and almost out the door, I let a smile take over my features.

"If that is your wish, my lady, I'd gladly make it come true. "

"I look forward to hearing you play more in the future," The lady left with that, making me bite back a squeal of excitement.

'She likes my playing!' I nearly jumped from the bench when she was far enough away from the opera hall, the smile never fading from my face. 'I can't believe she likes it! I didn't think life at this castle could get better! She and her daughters always prove me wrong, I suppose.'

"I'm glad they do," I whispered while smiling at the piano. "I missed playing."
