"[Y/N]!" Lady Bela called from the basement, causing me to walk away from the sink to hear her better. "We're going to need a clean-up in one of the cells!"

"Oh?" I laughed and began walking into the basement. "Are you finally getting a new prisoner?"

"Mhm! Two, apparently. Cass and Dani will be bringing them down, so you can talk to Dani in a bit."

"Keep your voice down!" I squeaked once I was closer to her, making her laugh.

"What?! It's cute! Honestly, I'm shocked she hasn't noticed your crush."

"I'd be more shocked if she ever noticed me."

"Hey," Bela frowned before hugging me. "Don't talk like that. Dani talks about you more than you think — she notices you. I just don't think she sees your crush, for some reason."

"...How did you figure it out?"

"Oh, please. It's obvious!"

"Your mother told you, didn't she?"

"How did she know before I did!? I thought we were friends," Bela pouted, making me giggle.

"Well, she guessed," I shrugged. "She said it was obvious I had a crush on someone in the castle — said it had something to do with my heartbeat?"

"Yeah, your heart races and sometimes skips a beat whenever Dani's around."

"After that, well..."

Eight Months Ago

"Who do you have a crush on?"

I choked on my tea when the lady asked her question, eeking out a response after I stopped coughing and caught my breath. "Ex-excuse me?!"

"You heard me," Lady Dimitrescu hummed, an amused smile on her face.

'I could've died!' With a deep breath, I composed myself and tried my best to prepare to lie to her, knowing it wouldn't work. "I don't-."

"Don't lie."

"..." After a low sigh, I set my cup down and began fidgeting with my uniform. "Do you think Lady Beneviento would make me a hij-."

"Yes, now stop trying to change the subject."

"Okay! I have a crush! But, I'd rather not say who it is..."

The Lady perked up at that, her attention completely on me. "It's one of my daughters?!"

"...No?"

"[Y/N]."

"I'd rather not say!"

"Bela?"

I gave her a confused look before sighing. "A guessing game? Really? Isn't that a little childish?"

"You're not answering my questions," The Lady mused. "Now, is it Bela?"

"No, my Lady, Bela's simply a friend."

"How about Cassandra?"

"Scary, but in a good way."

"Meaning?"

"Not her."

"Then-."

"Please don't say it!" I sighed and buried my face in my hands.

"Why haven't you-?"

Present

As I stepped out of the freshly cleaned cell, Cassandra came down the steps, an unconscious body in her arms. 'Poor girl,' I thought as she was chained to a wall. 'I wonder what these two did.' My attention went to Daniela as she entered the cell I had just finished cleaning, causing me to bow to her. Once the other person was chained as well, Daniela made her way over to me and grabbed my wrist.

"Can we talk?" She asked quietly after Cassandra left. "In my room? I-I have something for you."

"Lead the way," I smiled, my heart skipping a beat when she slipped her hand into mine before leading me out of the basement. 'She's been doing this more often — holding my hand.'

"Aunt Donna helped me with it, so I hope you like it."

"I'm sure I'll love it."

She gave my hand a light squeeze before sending me a smile. "You better."

"When have I ever not loved something you gave me?" I giggled as she started swinging our hands.

"...You make an excellent point," Her tone made me turn my attention to her. "There's one more thing I need to give you once we reach my room."

"Oh?"

"It's a surprise!"

Once we were at her door, she let go of my hand and told me to close my eyes, her smile being the last thing I saw. 'Whatever it is, she loves it, so I know I will too.' I jumped slightly when I felt her hand on my lower back, leaning against her a second later. Daniela seemed to relax when I leaned against her, making the anxious air dissipate.

I let her walk me into her room and sit me on her bed, waiting to open my eyes. Daniela moved around her room before placing something in my hands, sitting next to me, and telling me to open my eyes. I opened my eyes and turned my gaze to the box, taking the envelope off the top. 'Dani's handwriting? What's this?'

"Uh! Yo-you don't have t-to read that right now..."

"Nervous about me reading it?" I teased before noticing how nervous she was. "...You are nervous."

"Th-this was stupid," She muttered and reached for the letter, making me grab it and move it out of her way.

"Now I'm curious. You're never this nervous, so now I have to read this."

"I'll be in the hall then."

"Dani-."

She left before I could finish my sentence, pulling a sigh out of me. 'What could possibly make her this nervous?' I opened the envelope and began reading the letter inside, my heart skipping a beat at her confession. 'Oh, that's what.'

"Dear [Y/N],

I know I flirt with every maid but with you it's genuine. I don't know when it happened, but you stole my heart. In the box is a new hijab for you — I asked Aunt Donna to help me make it. It's yours no matter the answer to my question.

Will you be my girlfriend? I swear, my feelings for you are genuine. You mean everything to me, and I want to be able to prove that to you every day."

I smiled and opened the box, taking off my hijab before picking up the one Daniela made. With a quiet giggle, I put the new one on and stood up, walking to the door before opening it. Daniela paced in the hall before she noticed me, stopping in her tracks and sucking in a sharp breath of air.

"How do I look?"

"Better than I thought," Daniela breathed. "...So, did you-?"

I cut her off with a kiss when she was close enough, pulling back before she could return it. "Ask me the question, and you'll have your answer."

"Will you be my girlfriend?"

"Absolutely."
