I hummed and read through the file Mother Miranda gave me, trying to decide if the woman would be worth experimenting on. 'Severe health issues, but it wouldn't be the first time the cadou was used on people with health issues. Hell, even Alci-.' My thoughts stopped when a piercing scream cut through the otherwise silent air, fear and panic coursing through my body. 'That wasn't a maid.'

My feet carried me to the door that hid the source of the pained cries. 'Dani-!' I tried opening the door, my panic increasing when it didn't open. 'Barricaded?! When I find out who did this-.' Anger filled me as I continued ramming into the door, ignoring the pain in my body.

"Mommy! Mom! Hurts!" Daniela sobbed, making my tears fall.

"I'm right here, baby," I called and slammed into the door again. "Stay away from the window, okay?! Stay near my voice!"

"Mommy! Mommy, hurry!"

"I almost got it, baby," I promised when I felt the door open a bit more. "Come closer."

My heart broke at the sight of her crystalizing body. "It hurts! No leave! I don't wanna leave, Mommy!"

"You won't," I promised and managed to open the door further, giving Daniela the room she needed to slip out of the room.

"Mommy! I'm cold!" Daniela sobbed as I picked her up, noticing the maid fall out the window. 'You will die.'

"I got you," I whispered and moved away from the room, holding Daniela against my chest. "Let's get you to a warm room. Adina! Find that bitch and drag her back here!"

The brunette down the hall jumped — causing the tea tray she held to fall and shatter, something I would need to inform Alcina about. 'I can't let her kill Adina because I gave her a sudden order,' I slipped into a room and grabbed a blanket, wrapping Daniela in it. 'Poor girl's just jumpy — Alcina's short temper doesn't help, but Adina gets things done.'

Once Daniela was wrapped in the blanket, I left the room and carried her through the hall, kissing her head. 'My poor baby,' I held her tighter as I entered the lounge and sat near the fireplace. 'I can't be too close, or it'll hurt her.' Daniela's sobs quieted to my relief, letting me know she didn't smell the maid nearby.

"Mommy's got you," I whispered and kissed her head, gently rocking her as she slowly lifted her head. "You'll never leave us, baby. I promise."

Daniela leaned up until our noses brushed against each other, her eyes holding fear as tears threatened to spill again. "I-I stay with Mo-mommy."

"That's right, little fruit fly. You're staying right here."

"...What happened to our daughter?" Alcina's voice was cold and sharp — never intended for me, but her anger and concern were never emotions she could hide.

"A maid thought she could escape," I hissed, letting Daniela move her head to my neck and nuzzle into it. "Barricaded the door too. She knew Dani would be in there — she always goes there when she finds a book to read. She likes looking out the window, especially when it snows."

"[Y/N]," Alcina's eyes softened as she knelt, wiping a stray tear from my face. "I will make her pay."

"She almost took my baby — give her the most painful de-."

I stopped when the door opened, and the maid from before stumbled in, her eyes widening upon seeing Alcina. "Wh-whatever you do, don't te-tell her! Please! I'm s-sorry! I won't d-do it again! Please, I don't want to die! I'm too youn-!"

"And she isn't?" I growled, holding Daniela tighter as she started to cry again. "She's a child!"

"She's a monster! Like her sisters! Like he-!"

My eyes widened when I noticed Adina's hand around the woman's neck, stopping her from speaking. Alcina took deep breaths and walked forward, her claws slowly extending. I looked over when I heard another door open, sending a slight smile to Cassandra and Bela. 'They're worried,' My eyes flickered to Daniela before I shifted the blanket, relief washing over me when the crystalizing finally faded. 'She'll be okay.'

I stood when Adina dragged the maid to the other side of the room — Alcina following close behind. 'She'll catch up,' I carried Daniela to the door her sisters hid behind, causing them to open it and shuffle out of my way. 'Otherwise, they might cry. They want our family together — to know we're all going to be okay.' As I walked through the hall, the girls walked beside me, their tiny hands gripping my clothes.

"Mommy?" Cassandra called, looking up with teary eyes. "Dani hurt?"

"Not anymore, baby, I promise."

"Hu-human hurt Dani?" Bela asked with a similar look, shattering my heart. '...They'll fear or hate humans for this.'

"Correct. A human hurt Dani. She did it because she wanted to escape."

"...Why hurt Dani? Didn't need to hurt to leave."

"That's what I'm hoping your mother will find out before killing her."

We walked until we arrived at the room I shared with Alcina, Bela, and Cassandra deciding to open the door for me since I still held their sister. I carried Daniela inside before sitting her on the bed, helping her sisters onto it soon after. The two hugged Daniela — making all three cry. My heart ached as they hugged each other and cried, knowing they could've been ripped away from each other not too long ago.

'Nothing — no one — will break this family apart. I won't let it happen,' I promised as I grabbed a change of clothes for the girls. 'A nice bath and an outfit change will do them some good. Maybe Alcina can join before they're out of the tub — they love it when we play with bubbles.' I paused halfway through the door to the bathroom when the triplets screamed, making me jump and turn to face them.

"Mommy! No go!" They cried, making me sigh.

"Okay, we'll wait until your Mother gets here," I promised and returned to the bed, letting them crawl into my lap once I was settled.

"Where Mom?" Bela frowned, keeping an arm around Daniela.

"In the ce-."

"Right here, little fruit flies," Alcina hummed as she entered the room. "Adina's interrogating the maid and treating her wounds. I couldn't stand hearing them cry."

"Mommy try leave!" Daniela pouted, making me gasp.

"I was going to start a bath for you three," I corrected her, kissing her forehead soon after. "I would never leave you."

"Pwomise?" The triplets asked in unison.

"Cross my heart," I giggled as Alcina sat with me.

"Dani, how do you feel?"

Daniela snuggled closer while Alcina wrapped her arms around the four of us, a giggle leaving her as she looked up at us. "Warm."
