A trusted maiden. That's what you were. The daughters of the castle didn't frighten you as much as they used to and the lady of the castle entrusted you to oversee the rest of the servants. She knew you'd tell either her or her daughters if someone messed up, especially if that slip up could be potentially fatal to the daughters. There was one time a maid forgot to check the locks on the windows after cleaning them.

A winter storm had hit an hour later and once you heard the pained scream of one of the sisters — whom you found out belonged to the youngest, Daniela — you raced to her and immediately slammed the window shut, properly locking it. Her sisters had arrived shortly after you did and, not caring for their own safety, tried to get their sister out of the room as you shut the window.

You had escorted the girls to the living room, sitting them in front of the fire and wrapping each of them in their own blanket. The sound of heels had caught your attention and you knew exactly what she wanted. The name. And so you gave it to her. You had offered to get the maiden but was silenced immediately by the three sisters pulling you down to sit with them, all three huddling around you and the fire.

That's how you ended up here, peacefully cleaning the library as the three daughters of the lady told you about their activities from the night before. How they tortured the girl that nearly killed all three of them — how she was still alive and they intended to make her suffer for what she did. You would occasionally nod your head and vocalize your acknowledgement of their story, a content smile on your face. You had grown used to it at this point, it had been over a year since you started working here anyway. The longest any servant had survived. As you were cleaning, you moved further from the windows, Daniela laying on the couch now that you had finished cleaning the area.

You heard one sister fly over to her, probably to also finally sit down now that you were done with that area. Bela flew in front of you to get to her sisters, and to try to trip you up — a little game you and the three of them had started recently — when you heard them scream suddenly. You didn't even get the chance to turn around before they were in front of you and spinning you around, all three pointing at the window. The window was shut tight, that you were sure of because you had double checked every window in there before the girls entered the room. When you turned your head to look at them, they simply started pushing you forward, hiding behind you.

'Now what is so terrifying that it has the girls cowering behind me? I'd be the one to di— Oh.' Realization hit once you were close enough to see the black spider crawling along the windowsill. 'A spider. Right. Of course they wouldn't want one in the castle.'

"Kill it!" Cassandra hissed; gaze fixated on the small creature.

"Please, [Y/N]!" Daniela whined soon after, clinging to your right arm for protection.

You were about to agree when the door to the library opened, catching everyone's attention as their mother entered the room. Upon seeing her girls hiding behind you and no open windows, she cocked an eyebrow and locked eyes with you.

"Spider, my lady." Was all you had to say for her to understand and for the girls to rush to their mother's side.

Once they were a 'safe' distance away, as Bela put it when she made sure her sisters were with her, you removed your shoe and squashed the damned creature from Hell. After you cleaned it off of your shoe and the windowsill, throwing away the paper towel you used to do so as a request from the lady since her daughter's refused to go near you now, you tied the bag tightly and gave it to another servant to dispose of. Once that servant left and your shoe was back on, the girls basically tackled you onto the couch, thanking you while also threatening to slice you to ribbons if you ever spoke of this to anyone.

"I won't tell anyone, my ladies. Now please, I must get back to work." You laughed, trying to pry yourself away from the daughters.

"Take a break, [Y/N]." Lady Dimitrescu ordered after hearing her daughters growl at you trying to move. "It doesn't seem like my daughters are done thanking you yet."

With a that and a laugh, the lady left the library — leaving you to be pulled back into the couch as all three girls nuzzled into you for warmth. 'At this point I can't tell if I'm a servant or an older sibling to these three. Either way, having a break is a nice change of pace.'
