Chapter 102: Her Resolve

[]Third Person's POV []

"Quite the façade you had right there."

As the two walked back to the carriage that was ordered to stand by the front gate of the Shevaria mansion, those words which came out from the Crowned Prince's mouth brought back the dazed, blonde-haired, young lady into reality.

"Oh my, Your Highness. How cruel of you to say that as if I'm not one to share my kindness to others!", she answered with a tone which was under the pretense of an innocent being spoken ill of someone superior than herself.

Thanks to that, the two guards by the gate couldn't help but glance at their direction as soon as the phrase of the bullied reached their ears.

"I wonder which of us is truly the mean one here..."

Natasha merely smiled like she was quietly trying to tell him that she cared less about his statement. Only she could be this daring to tease the successor of the Empire at ease. But even if this side of hers did irritate the person, he would simply forgive her for treating him like a normal friend unlike those who would reserve themselves from doing so, only to create a long distance between their relationship.

Whenever that happened, Noah couldn't help but have the thought that it was more of a master-subordinate correlation rather than those type of friends that treat one another as equal as possible. It was far different from his ideal.

It was his greatest pleasure to meet someone as courageous as Natasha who has matched several of his standards when it came to the subject. Though, he sulked about the formalities that remained within her manner of speech during their conversations.

But since she was the type who'd treat other nobles as politely, he considered turning a blind eye over that.

In a matter of time, they sat across each other's sight while the coachman of the Imperial Carriage closed the door with care.

"Please drop me downtown. I'll be riding back home on my own, from there.", Natasha advised the coachman before he could hop on the coach box.

"I don't recommend you that, Milady.", he replied, concerningly.

Before the blonde could speak of her question about the man's reply, Noah explained the influence that brought unpleasantries to her decision.

"It's because of the carriage we're riding right now. The Imperial Family's crest is very well-known among the citizens of the Empire, to the point that it even scares myself."

"......The risks of being kidnapped and raided, I see.", she was convinced, also knowing that she sent away her own guards after the thought of visiting the Ducal Household of Shevaria with the Prince.

"Good to know that you understood this quick. Well, we'll take you back to the residence before I go to mine so rest assured.", he summarized what needed to be done as he gazed at the coachman and the Imperial Knights that he brought with him outside.

""As you wish, Your Highness."", those that were on standby to heed the royalty's command soon bowed and replied to his expectations, then went to their rightful positions to set off the ride.

The moment the clopping sounds rushed into the two's ears, they stared at opposite windows in silence and at their own pace. That continued until Natasha brought up a topic for them to discuss about.

She looked at the Noah that focused his indifferent stare at the moving scenery behind the window and asked.

"Since when have you become acquaintances with the lady from the Shevaria Family?"
