♦Chapter 105: Bewilderment♦
[]Third Person's POV []
Under the blazing sunlight with her back facing the café that she went into a while ago, Natasha brought out a pocket watch from the bag that she carried with her and observed the present time.
"So, it's already midday...", she whispered to herself, wearing a sour expression on her face.
The result of today's visit was nothing more than an utter disappointment. And the thought of that made her look back at the establishment behind her with a sigh.
What she got didn't entirely make things pointless, and rather, it was a fruitful research. The disappointment in her face merely sprouted out from the fearsome realization that she came across during this venture.
Whilst biting her lower lip, the events that passed in that place just flashed back into her mind.
"We have ascertained that the Duke of Yreles has come into contact with a plentiful of treacherous bunch to the Imperial Family.", the old man from the counter said, confessing the information demanded by the lady during the last time that she came.
"Specifically, how far did he involve himself among those people's businesses, most of the time?"
The old man paused for a second before he could answer the blonde-haired youth's question.
"All of them."
"...Pardon?", she slightly furrowed her brows at the statement.
"He would take part to all of their offers with a daring amount of support, whichever it would involve. Like, as long as it was something that revolted the royalty."
...What......? Natasha was devastated as soon as she perceived that phrase.
For if all of the record of his crimes hadn't revolved around the means of complying with the Empire as an allied plant in actuality, it would just be a split second before the whole bloodline of the Yreles get massacred the moment this treachery reveals itself.
"How about his objective? Have you found anything?!", she asked what was to be prioritized right after the given information, saving her thoughts about what was mentioned for the later.
"Unfortunately, we have yet to find a single conclusive result as of yet. I have heard from my men that they found different, multiple answers for this one but none of those has been thoroughly proven to be precise so far."
"...Is that...... so..."
The dispiritedness was shown on her reaction very solidly as her gaze shifted downwards in an average pace. But only one word made her hang her head upwards again, expecting for a good lead to come out.
"However-"
"......"
For some reason, something was preventing the man from spitting off the words that would follow in his sentence. Thanks to the visible hesitation on his demeanor, the little customer before his presence looked puzzled as she gazed at his direction.
"Is there something wrong, mister?", she asked, keeping her impatience upon herself.
"There is no issue, young miss. It's just that... I'm not quite sure whether this will make a reliable clue.", the old man fiddled his index finger over his left cheek.
"Even the smallest things will help. Please speak."
Heeding the lady's command, after a brief silence, the information trader slowly opened his mouth. And hearing the explanation of the next statements, fresh to her knowledge and ears, Natasha eventually widened her eyes as though she noticed something very crucial.
