Shit guys. That's why I shouldn't write.. For cupcake_2913

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You met Connor a couple years before he left to play hockey. You friend drug you along to a game, as she was trying to get with the goalie. Tall and lanky wasn't really your type. Even though you said you didn't have one.

"Why are we here?"

"To get invited to a party."

"Because that's so going to happen."

She was right. You got invited to a party. You had a shitty beer and sat in the kitchen while your friend was off with the goalie. One of the players came up to you and introduced himself.

"I'm Connor."

You gave him a chance and you were glad you did. Even if it was a long distance relationship most of the year.

He was in Edmonton for the prospect camp and you were sick. You were pissed that you had a sinus infection in the middle of July. All you wanted was a hug from your boyfriend and maybe a smoothie. One was possible, but the other wasn't.

"I'm sorry baby. You look miserable." You were laying in bed, watching a movie, and videochatting with Connor while holding the Otter that he gave you before he left the previous season. "I wish I could be there with you."

"You always say that. You're never home."

"I know."

"No, next year you're going to be across the country and I'm going to be in Toronto going to uni without my best friend." You started to cry. You were sick, hormonal, and lonely. He was the only thing that could make it better.

Some cold medicine would also help.

"I know. I know."

The two of you stayed silent for a while. You didn't look at the screen, just stared down at the corner of your computer. The thought of breaking up had crossed your mind more times than not. You could do it at the end of the summer. Have fun at the cabin when he came back, do everything and anything you wanted to.

Or it could happen during this video call.

"You could go to a university in Edmonton."

"I have a scholarship to Toronto. A full ride to get to play softball and do exactly what I wanted since I was a little girl."

"This is what I've wanted to do since I was little too."

"You are living your dreams, Connor. I'm okay with that. I'm just not cut out for a long distance relationship."

"Babe. You're tired, drunk on cold medicine, and well, sick. Don't make any decisions right now." You rolled over, not caring to watch the tv or see Connor. "Go to bed. I'll talk to you in the morning. I love you."

You reached back and shut your computer. Maybe you'd feel better about the situation in the morning.
