This kid is like two months younger than me and earns more than Borts. That makes me uncomfortable.

I'm listening to Ride by Chase Rice because the original version is fire and he brings it to a whole new level.

It's like 1 am and I'm not drunk, I swear.

Also really short, sorry.

You and Curtis had just met. It was one of those situations that could have been 'love at first sight' if it were another time and place. That's usually how it goes. That's just how the universe works.

But for now, you would have to settle for the fact that he was going to be gone two days after you met him, going back to Ottawa to finish out the rest of the season.

When he told you that he would only be here for a few days, you tried not to let yourself fall for him. It was a bad idea. Starting something with a guy who would be across the country in just a couple days.

But it happened anyway, because that was your luck when it came to guys. They were either an ass, or they lived across the country.

After dinner the second night, the two of you went to your place to just talk. You laid on the bed, awake until the sun came up the next morning.

By the third night, he was gone.

You tried to brush it off, saying it was a good fling that you could easily get over but even you didn't believe what you told yourself. It was much, much more than that. You hated that you wanted to talk to him every minute you were apart.

This is falling in love in the cruelest way. This is falling for you when you are worlds away.

You didn't know how to handle it. There was no sure sign that he felt the same way, so you thought that it was only a fling for him. Like you wanted to think it was.

It was a few weeks without contact. You began seeing him in other people, making you do a double take whenever you were out in public. You didn't want it to be this way. You wanted things to go back to normal, but that seemed impossible at this point.

All you wanted was for him to come back and see you again.

Then, out of the blue, your phone buzzed.

I miss you. Sorry it took so long to realize.
