You were finishing a load of laundry when you heard Erik walk in the door. You quickly put the last few articles of clothing in the dryer and went to greet him at the door. You didn't really have any plans for the day, just that you would go downtown and walk around until you got hungry or wanted to shop.

"Ready to go?" He asked as you slipped on a jacket.

"Yeah, let's go," you grabbed his hand and lead him out the door.

It was a beautiful summer day out, you had on a sun dress and the pair of sandals he had gotten you for your birthday just a few weeks before. You had wanted a pair like them before, but didn't feel like spending the money on them.

You walked hand in hand, looking inside all the shops. You two would occasionally get stopped but for the most part, people smiled as they passed by and left you alone. This was the best part about summer. You got to spend most of your free time with Erik and enjoy it.  Once season started again, there would be too many lonely nights without him in your bed.

You were happy to go to Sochi with him for those couple of weeks, but you had a job and couldn't travel with him. Not that you would want to constantly be traveling, you liked having a little routine in your life but didn't mind when it was broken every once in a while.

The local humane society had brought several dogs downtown today for 'Adoption Days' or something like that. He tried to keep you away from the kennels they had set up, but you went over anyway.

"Look at this one! He's so cute. How could someone give up such a cute baby?" You walked in the kennel with the American Eskimo puppy. He couldn't have been much older than a couple months.

"Can we talk about it first? I mean, a puppy is a big commitment.."

You sighed, putting the dog back down and closing the kennel, "Yeah, let's go get something to eat though. I'm starving."

After eating, you went back home to watch a movie. The two of you sat down in the living room, starting Catching Fire. You thought he had fallen asleep, but halfway through he suddenly got up.

"I will be right back," He told you as he quickly grabbed his keys and ran out the door.

You paused the movie and went to the kitchen to make yourself some tea and read the paper. He had been gone a while and you decided to keep watching the movie, not caring if he made you rewind it when he got back.

The movie was almost over when you heard the door open. You could hear paws running across the hard wood floor. Before you knew it, the puppy from earlier was on your lap. He had a big red bow around his neck and in the middle of it was a shiny, diamond ring.

"Wait, are you proposing?" You looked at him with wide eyes.

"I love you and can't see myself with anyone else," He was in front of you on one knee, holding your hand. You set your new dog down and wrapped your arms around him.

"But don't you want to talk about this first? I mean getting married is a big commitment.." You mocked him with his own words.

"I take that as a yes," you didn't say anything, just pressed a kiss to his lips and he untied the ring but left the bow on the puppy, "What do you want to name him?"

"How about Ghost?"

I'm sorry you had to wait so long and it's kinda short, but I hope you enjoy it!
