"Keep up, loser! I'm tired of having to stop for you!" You yelled up the hill for your best friend. He was supposed to be an in shape hockey player, but he was getting worn out before lunch time.

"Not all of us have the luxury of getting to go boarding every weekend." He came to a stop next to you, falling to his butt.

"Not all of us have your salary either. The only reason I get to be here every weekend is because I work here and get free lift passes." You got out your phone and replied to a few texts you had gotten from your parents. Including one from your mom saying something about dating Carey.

If only.

"Are you ready to eat? I'm hungry." He whined.

"Sure."

The two of you set your boards in the rack and went in to eat. He was being his weird self while you were trying to eat, causing you to almost spit out the water you were drinking.

"You're so weird." You shook your head, shoving a few fries into your mouth.

"Yeah, but you love me."

"Yeah. Some days."

The rest of the day, you were quiet. Thinking about how you wanted to be more than just his best friend, but you couldn't get yourself to want to bring up the subject. If he didn't feel the same way, there was a chance your friendship would be ruined and you didn't want to lose him.

That night, you were sitting in front of the fire in your parent's condo with some hot chocolate. The two of you were on opposite sides but your legs were rested on his. He was going off about something one of his teammates did at practice one day.

"Carey, I think we need to talk." Your voice started shaking, even though you were trying your best to keep it strong.

"What's wrong." He moved closer to you and you pulled your knees to your chest.

"I like you. More than just a friend. I don't know what to do because if I lose you, I lose my best friend and I don't want that to happen." He stared at you for a few seconds without saying anything.

You were worried that he didn't feel the same way and that it would now be different between the two of you, but then his lips collided with yours. He pulled you onto his lap and you started running your fingers through his hair.

When the two of you finally needed to breathe, you were both smiling. "I'm guessing this means you feel the same way."

"Yeah, I have for a while now."
