"I'm sorry babe, but I don't feel good. I don't think I'll be able to make it tonight," You walked into the kitchen, bundled up in the tie blanket you made him for Christmas.

He studied you for a minute before sighing, "The team is going to love you. Why are you so worried about it?"

"Because I'm so much younger than you," You avoided his eyes and tried

"Are you sure about this," you asked, fixing his crooked tie.

You kept asking, but Patrick was sure that he wanted to introduce you to the team tonight. It was the first time you had met the team and no matter what Patrick said, the gut feeling you had wouldn't go away. All you could think about was how the team would react to the age gap.

You were barely old enough to by your own alcohol, dating a 32 year old hockey player didn't exactly look good to others. Even your family, but Patrick insisted it was fine.

"Go get dress, the guys are going to love you."

You put on the long, dark blue dress you had bought for the occasion and slipped on a nude pair of high heels. They had a decent sized heel, but with the height different between you and your boyfriend, it would put you just a couple inches shorter than him.

You walked out of the bathroom, pushing the diamond studs he got you for your birthday through the holes in your ears.

"Ready?" He stood up and asked.

You nodded your head, "As ready as I can be, I guess."

The drive to the building the banquet was in, was quiet. You held Patrick's hand, just like every other time you drove. Only this time, he squeezed your hand and looked over at you to make sure you were doing okay. When you got there, he opened the door for you."

"You look absolutely stunning tonight," he told you as he pressed his lips to your temple.

"Well you know what they say. The prettiest dresses are worn to be taken off."

"Well then. I hope this banquet goes by quickly."

Your boyfriend led you to a table of his teammates. You recognized them from games. Brandon Saad was to your right and Andrew Shaw was to the left of Patrick. Kane and Toews were across the table with their girlfriends.

The two girls at the table didn't look very impressed with you, but you tried not to let their stares get to you.

"Are you in school?" Brandon asked you while Patrick was up getting drinks.

"Yeah. I'm in my last year of my undergrad. I'm off to vet school next fall." Everyone looked surprised, especially the two girls across from you.

"You got yourself a smart one, Sharp," his teammate told him as he set down a beer in front of you, "Does that mean the Blackhawks get free visits to the vet?"

"Why? Do you have horses?" You quickly replied.

"She's going to be a large animal vet. Mainly horses."

"It's great to know some girls aren't just after money. That they want a career of their own," Shaw said. You could tell it was directed towards Toews's girl because of the way she reacted.

"Shaw." Jon wasn't too happy about it either.

After dinner you stayed and talked to some of the players. Most of the wives were nice so you had nothing to worry about. A majority of them just asked how you managed school, work, and Blackhawks games.

"See babe, you had nothing to worry about," he told you as you were walking to the door you entered through, "Everyone loved you."

"Yeah, except for Jon's girl."

"Not many people like her so I wouldn't worry about that."

You got to the exit only to see it was pouring rain and you weren't exactly parked right outside the door.

"My dress is going to be soaked," You said as you used Patrick for balance while taking off your heels.

"Good. Then you'll have to take it off."
