You had been best friends with Robert and Beau since they both played for Pittsburgh. After Robert moved, it turned into more than just friendship between the two of you. You lived with Beau until you finished college and then moved to St. Louis for grad school.
It was always fun when the three of you were together. The parties were legendary. But still it was getting kind of old. You wanted to keep doing it, but you wanted to keep doing it with a ring on your finger.
It had been almost four years of being together and you wanted to be with him the rest of your life.
He had picked up on all of your hints and finally gave in and bought you a puppy. Not exactly what you wanted but it easily made you forget until he took you on a picnic one night.
Robert had set up lights and blankets in the forest near his house in Thunder Bay. It was beautiful and romantic, perfect for a Friday night in July.
He poured some wine and sat down next to you. "God, you're beautiful."
"You're not too bad yourself there, handsome."
The two of you laughed most of the night and when the sun was about to go down, you decided to head back to the house.
"Wait," he said. And as you turned around, he was down on one knee with a box. "I love you so much, and I want to be with you forever. Will you marry me?"
"Of course I will!"
Your now fiancé put the ring on your finger and took you back up to the house for champagne with both of your parents. It was perfect. You now had a puppy and a ring.
