"Mommy NO!"

"Pollyanna-Grace, come here now" We are all getting ready to leave to go grocery shopping but Pollyanna is insisting that she isn't going

"Me stay wif dada"

"Dada's coming so you have to come too"

"ME NO GO" She stomps her foot and places her hands on her hips

"Fine, you'll stay here all on your own then. Come on Ophelia, let's go and get in the car with dada and River"

I give Pollyanna one more chance to come to me herself and when she doesn't, Ophelia and I go outside and close the door. Obviously we aren't going without her but I want to make her think we are.

"MOMMY WAIT FOR ME" I hear her yell and the pitter patter of little feet running towards the door

"Come on, there's no need to be silly"

"Me get toy mommy?" She looks up at me with her big blue eyes

"I don't know baby, you haven't been that good today have you?" I take her hand and we walk to the car

"Me be good mommy, I pwomise"

"I'll have to see if you're a good girl in the store" I pick the girls up one by one and buckle them into their car seats

"She wouldn't come huh?" Brad asks as I climb into the passenger seat

"No, she insisted on staying at home but I guess I won this round. 1 point to mommy, 0 to Polly" We both giggle as we pull out of our driveway

We are in the fruit and Vegetable aisle in the grocery store and the whole car ride here, Pollyanna was on her best behaviour, trying to prove to Jen that she deserves a toy. So far, all three children have been well behaved as we are doing our weekly food shop. Jen and I said that after we get all the fruit and vegetables we need, we will go and look at the toys and they can all pick one toy each.

"Dada me wawk?"

"No sweetheart, you can't walk. You have to stay in the cart"

"ME WAWK NOW!"

"Pollyanna... don't shout at dada please"

"ME WAT TO WAWK"

"I've already said you're not allowed to walk because there's too many people"

"You have one more chance missy or you're not getting a toy" Jen steps in noticing she's not listening to me in the slightest

All of a sudden, Pollyanna starts screaming in the middle of the store. Jen and I both look at each other, sighing, not understanding what's up with our child today.

"That's it, you've had your warning. No toy for you"

"NO MAMA, NO" Pollyanna starts kicking and waving her arms around like a lunatic, hitting Ophelia in the face

"Oh come here baby" Jen gets a now crying Ophelia out of the cart trying to comfort her

"Pollyanna, stop it now! You're making dada cross" As soon as I use my stern voice, she immediately stops and looks at me absolutely terrified. I hate raising my voice to them but sometimes it's unavoidable

"If you stop screaming you can get a toy" As soon as I say this, Jen gives me a look that could kill

"Why on earth did you just tell her that? She's absolutely not getting a toy with the way she's been behaving"
