Are We Still Friends?

Kashino: " remember we have a reservation today at-" getting cut off by Kii saying " yeah I know!" and slammed the door to leave for work.

Kashino went to the restaurant getting there early and waited for Kii to arrive. When it was time, Kii still wasn't there. Making Kashino give her a few more minutes than after those minutes had passed she started to think up of excuses on why Kii was late, perhaps she got stuck at work because something came up, or traffic, maybe she lost tract of time and forgot what place they were going to, etc.

Looking at the time, Kii was over an hour late.

Kashino: " are you sure there wasn't any messages left for me?" questioning the waitress. Who originally asked her when she first came in, what she'd like to order but Kashino told her that she's waiting for somebody and will order later but...

" no sorry, I'll go check again" Oklahoma said, feeling bad for Kashino thinking that maybe she got stood up.

Kashino sat there embarrassed, frustrated, and sadden. Keeping her head hanging down low. Her cow ears also were down too in shame. Feeling like other people's eyes were all on her, piercing right through her soul judging her and quietly whispering about her. That's when she saw Kii enter. She was a mess. Her hair and fur were all over the place, ruffled and out of place. Her clothing looked like it was thrown onto her in a quick rush, all wrinkled and loose. Not to mention her stench, she reeked of alcohol.

She looked like she ran a marathon, out of breath breathing hard.

Kashino was relieved to see her, smiling and waving to Kii for her to spot her in the sea of tables.

Kii walked over and sat down. She looked exhausted.

Kii avoided eye contact with Kashino. Choosing not to look at her. This made Kashino very angry, but didn't say anything about it or show it. Choosing to move on and ignore it. Pushing her feelings aside to ask Kii what happened.

Kii: " I don't wanna talk about it" refusing to answer. Turing her attention to opening the menu.

While they were eating, Kashino couldn't help look at Kii. Seeing Kii make eye contract with her for once, and hold it.

Her eyes softened looking at her. Kashino made a small smile, seeing Kii make a small smile back. But both their smiles, hurt. Like it wasn't real.

After dinner, they were on their way home. It started to rain and they didn't carry an umbrella. Since Kashino expected them to be back before it started to rain but Kii being late made their time extend so... they got caught out in the rain.

Kashino: " is something wrong?" feeling like she's being very distant from her.

Kii: " no" brushing her off with a simple response.

Kashino made a sigh in relief. " ok, good. Because I thought something was bothering you a bit earlier but I'm glad it was nothing" pretending to believe that answer. Even though she knew it wasn't true.

 Almost half way home, that's when the silence was broken.

Kii: " I'm sorry about today" apologizing for her lateness.

Kashino shook her head and said " it's alright" forgiving her.

Kii could see it in Kashino's eyes that she was still very unhappy about today. Even Kii herself was too.
