Chapter 27

I opened my eyes.

The bright light blinded my vision making me shut my eyes once more. I blinked until my eyes adjusted to the brightness of the room.

I did not spend any time. I immediately sat up after remembering the last events.

I barely escaped Victor and his man. And what happened to Christopher?

I felt the headache getting the best of me. God my head was hurting so bad.

"Easy there tiger" a deep voice muttered. The voice was like melted chocolate. I would know it everywhere.

"Christopher?" I questioned looking around the room. He was seating comfortably next to me on a chair.

"How are you feeling little one?"

"I am good. How did we get out of there? I..you were about to be shot-

"Calm down Gabriella. I am perfectly fine" He mumbled.

I inspected him. He indeed looked fine. He didn't look like he had any injuries at all. Why was I worried about him anyway?

"Good"

"I think we should talk Princess"

"I think so too"

"What you did yesterday was very brave and we will talk about it separately. But what really matters to me is how did you know Victor? " He asked while folding his sculpted arms together.

My stomach turned and I felt sick all of a sudden. The memories of everything that happened before made me shiver in disgust. But I couldn't let Christopher know about it.

"I have been working with a lot of people love. Victor and his man were one of them."

"You fooled Victor?"

"I did. That's why he was after me."

I lied and wished that he actually belived me. I couldn't risk telling him the truth. I begged to God that he believed me and didn't find out about anything.

He spent a whole minute observing me. The look in his face made be think that he didn't believe me.

"Alright" He said after another minute of silence. I took a deep breath of relief and tried to sit straighter.

"Let me help you" He whispered handing me his hand. I took it without a second thought.

He sat the pillows behind my back making it comfortable for me to sit. I flashed him a thankful smile.

"Why are you being so sweet to me?" I questioned hesitantly.

"Because you saved my life" He said calmly. I took a deep breath and started at him. Gabriella stop thinking about him. He is being good to you only because you saved his life. He can't just ignore that fact. 

I was going soft on his behavior. I had to stop this kindergarten and continue my plan. With that I flashed a dashing smile towards him.

"Why did you save me? You could've easily let me die and run."  He raised an eyebrow at me.

I did now know myself. Why didn't I just let him die. He wasn't someone special for me. He wasn't someone I had feelings for. I could let him die and run away.

But there was something in me that didn't let me do that. Something in me stopped that and instead saved his life.

"Because I couldn't just let you die." I said lowly. I hoped this would make him wonder if I have feelings for him.

"Plus how was I gonna run away with you dead? Victor and his dogs would have killed me without you. And you being dead wouldn't help me run." I stated.

"So you admit you have feelings for me Princess?" The infamous smirk was back on his devilishly handsome face.

I made myself blush and shyly looked down. God I just loved playing with people.

But are you really playing?

I ignored the voice in my head the second I felt his cold fingers lift my chin up.

"Christopher what happened with Victor?" I questioned suddenly.

"Sadly the bastard didn't die."

"He got shot in the ribcage Christopher. The bullet hit him, causing cavitation and deformation. There is a moderate chance of striking a vital organ, causing rapid necrosis.  The lungs, heart, spinal column, ect. Which is most likely to cause him  nearly instant death. If he is lucky and he does not die instantly then-"

"Then the bullet may decide to deviate from its course and strike a vital organ afterwards, saving him the pain. Or it may decide to lodge within his body, requiring surgery to cut it out... Of course if he survives the bleeding." He finished my words with an impressed look in his eyes.

"Either way if he survives the bleeding out phase, he still has an infection to deal with." I finished with a smirk.

"I must say I'm impressed Princess."

"Your not bad yourself. To be honest I never took you as someone who knows biology, love." I folded my arms together.

"Neither did I" He chuckled.

My word got interrupted when the door opened and Antonio entered. He stopped dead in his tracks when he saw us.

"You woke up" He acknowledged.

I nodded solemnly.

"What are you doing here Antonio? Didn't I tell you not to bother me?" He asked.

"Christopher I've got information about Victor. He is currently in a coma but Ivan won't let this slide so easily. He now knows about Gabriella and he will come after her. The deal may be In danger. Ivan suspects that we know about the houses. We won't be able to free the girls if they find out."

"So you mean you are planning on freeing the girls? But how?" I questioned immediately.

"The plan was to find the direct address of all the houses  close by and free the girls. I'll tell you about the details later" Christopher answered.

"So what are we gonna do now? If Ivan suspects you then how are we planning on freeing them?" I questioned further.

"You probably should worry about yourself Gabriella. Ivan knows about you. He won't let the girl who got his brother into this state get away."  Antonio folded his arms.

I gulped as the sudden feeling of fear consumed me. Ivan not only knew about me as the girl who got Victor to this position. He also knows about me as the girl who escaped. I could be serious danger to them. If I told anyone about the houses they would risk getting caught.

"She has nothing to worry about."  Christopher spoke roughly.

I tore my gaze away from my hands and instead looked at Christopher.

"We will take care of her. I'll take her out of the country with me. No one will dare touch her"

Here you go. Guys I am so sorry for the long wait. I actually haven't been updating because of health reasons. And my studies too. I am sorry for making you wait for that long.
