Natsu's Pov

         I'm at the guild and sitting at our usual table when it happened. Gray wasn't here yet. Lucy and Erza were talking and I was just sitting with my head on the table listening to them talk. Then, something caught my attention. I perked up. My ears twitched and I caught a familiar, ironically warm, calming scent. I sniffed again. Soon I lifted my nose the ceiling and followed the scent around the whole guild. The doors opened and Gray walks in. I didn't notice him but the scent got stronger and I craved more of it. "What's going on with pyro?" Gray asked when he spotted me. The whole guild was looking where I was, still sniffing. I sniffed everyone and then sniffed the last person, which happened to be Gray. I stopped and looked at him surprised. It was his scent I was catching. Then all of a sudden I charged at him and wrapped around him, burying my face in his chest. I purred. "H-Hey!" Gray was confused.

Gray's Pov

     He caught me off guard. My arms were up in surprise at the sudden action. "Uhh, what's up with flame brain?" I looked around at everyone with Natsu still buried in my chest, hands clutching the front of my shirt. He purred again and snuggled closer. I saw Gajeel, he was smirking. "Looks like Salamander found his true mate." I looked at him, confused. "What?" "If I were you, I wouldn't move." "Why?" "He'll think you've rejected him." I looked down at Natsu, he was still purring and it got louder each minute. "When that happens, he'll get depressed and hurt himself. You wouldn't want that now, would ya? Also the scent of his mate calms him, that's why he started searching for the scent he caught a minute ago." I sighed and looked at Natsu again. He was smiling. "If you even dare hurt him, I'll hunt you down personally." Erza threatened. I chuckled nervously, not wanting her to come after me. It's true I didn't want him to hurt himself. But, his mate? I sighed once again after seeing Ezra's death glare, and wrapped my arms around him protectively. I kissed his head and buried my face in his hair. "Flame brain," I rubbed my hand down and up his back comfortingly, "I love you too." I got a purr in response.
