kissing her unexpectedly

You couldn't help the flutter in your heart as you stared down at Jennie. With her head resting on your shoulder and one of her hands intertwined with yours, she stared ahead at the tv while the movie played.

It was the perfect remedy for her rough day. A good movie that made that beautiful, joyous laugh fall from her soft lips again and again and your arms wrapped around her.

She was much happier than she'd been when she walked through the door a good forty minutes ago. It took a few minutes for that frown on her face to fade and the sinking feeling in your heart to do the same. But as she relaxed and melted into your embrace, you both started to feel better.

Her eyes were bright. Occasionally, she'd glance up at you and you'd smile down at her and lay a kiss to her cheek before she'd look back at the movie.

"I love you." You whispered and your words made her lift her head.

She was ready to say the words back to you. Her eyes seemed to sparkle a little brighter and she parted her lips, ready to say those three words that always flow so easily from her lips fall again.

But, suddenly, you cupped her cheek and leaned down to capture her lips with your own. She was taken by surprise at first, but she kissed you back immediately. She melted right into your kiss; moving her lips in perfect sync with your own as she savored the taste of the mint on your breath.

Naturally, she tangled her fingers in your hair and sighed against your lips. She was almost certain the kiss was only meant to be soft; or, so she assumed by the way it started off. But she couldn't help but deepen it. She just loved the taste of your lips and the way your kiss and your touch makes her feel.

You pulled away much too soon but you brushed the tip of your nose against her own and it made her giggle happily.

"What was that for?"

"I just really, really love you." You whispered softly. "I love you. I love seeing you so happy. I love the sound of your laugh and the light in your eyes."

She brought your hand to her lips and kissed across your knuckles lovingly. "You're the reason why I'm so happy right now. I love you too."

You couldn't help but pepper kisses all across her face and she threw her head back on your shoulder with a loud but infectious laugh. You loved every second of it; because all you really want is for her to be this happy, always.
