Rimuru's POV

Well then, let's go and meet Aegil. I teleport straight to Ingrassia's castle, and outside the the king's room. I knock out the two guards and knock on the door.

I could've obviously gone in without knocking, but decided not to.
"Who is it?" He asked. It doesn't look like he was asleep.

"It's me, Demon Lord Rimuru."
"Stop messing around. Guards!"

"They are already asleep." I say as I open the door and walk in.

Aegil was sitting on his desk dealing with a lot of paperwork. I guess this is the fate of every King. He looked up from the papers and started directly at me in shock.

"What? You thought I would let you do whatever you want in my territory?" I asked.
"What do you mean?"
"Do I really have to spell it out to you? You should know what I mean." I say as I walk closer to him.

"I really have no clue abo-*ugh*"

This is why I hate idiots like him. I grab him by the throat and lift him from his chair. Even Yuuki is better than him. Atleast Yuuki thinks ahead and knows when to give up on a plan.

3rd Person POV

Rimuru grabs Aegil by his throat and walks closer to the window. He sets up an illusion so no one can see what is going on. He keeps his hand out of the window, making Aegil hang nearly three floors above the ground.

"Now. Either confess, or I kill you." Rimuru said as he loosens his grip on his throat so that he can atleast speak.

"Hah. I wouldn't die even if you drop me from here."
"Who said the fall will kill you? That is just to make it look like a suicide case. I will make sure to torture you thoroughly before I kill you."

"*Cough**cough* as if. You can't, or rather won't kill me. After all, you still need my help."

"Hoh? What makes you think that?"

"If you kill me now, your control over the West will no doubt decline. My son Elrick will also not support Tempest. Everything you built in the West will be gone."

"I see." I say as I throw him to the nearby wall. I was kind enough to not kill him with just that.

"You are not wrong, but unfortunately for you, you are looking at the things from the wrong angle. I never intended to increase my influence in the West. It's not like I wanted to expand into the West."

As soon as I said that, his facial expressions changed every so slightly. Seems like he figured it out. My goal was not to spread my name and control in the West, rather it was too make them dependant on Tempest.

"If the West were to cut connections from Tempest, most adventurers will continue to do business in Tempest due to the labyrinth. And the high quality material will without a doubt attract merchants."

"It's true that we will suffer a bit, but that isn't enough to shake even a small country, much less countries like mine."

"I see. Then, let me phrase it this way, the adventurers will not go to the Western Nations. Without any adventurers, do you really think you can beat monsters? Till now, I had been suppressing the numbers that went out of the forest, but if I were to stop, most Nations surrounding Tempest will obviously be forced to join us. Your power will slowly just crumble down to nothing."

I sensed guards coming towards this room. I could obviously deal with them, but it would be too much of a headache.

"You better remember this. If you try to do this again, Ingrassia will be no more." I then left giving well
Aegil an ultimatum. I am sure he is smart enough to make the right choice.

The next day there was complete chaos amongst the higher ups in Ingrassia and an organization made to overthrow Tempest's authority had lost its major sponsor. Of course, rumours about me making a move was widespread, but of course, none of that mattered.

A few days later...

Today is the day that I meet with the merchant. His entire family has been banished from Tempest. Of course, today is the their last day in Tempest. I obviously called the merchant, Carter, but also his son, the main culprit.

In reality, I wanted to know what he, as a child, knew and how much he understood what his actions did, and could have done.

<Master has become softer.>

Have I? I guess I have. It's just that I see someone in his place. I really don't want him to go down the path I did. Doing things without understanding what they could lead to. And then regretting it later.

"Rimuru-sama, they have arrived." A maid said as she entered. She had knocked on the door while I was talking with Ciel.

"I see. Take Carter to the meeting room. I will be there in a minute."
"Understood."

As soon as the maid leaves, I use illusion magic to make myself look like a student of the academy. I then teleport just outside the room where Carter's soon was. I slowly open the door and peek inside. There was a bit sitting all alone in the couch. He was just staring at the drink in his hand.

"Etto.... You are?" I ask trying my best to mimic a young school boy's attitude. The boy just looked at me for some time and then looked away.

"You should stay away from me."
"Umm.... Why? Aren't you.... lonely?"

"I am someone who has done a bad thing. If you stay with me, they might raise their fingers at you as well."

Looks like he is not a bad kid. He is quite thoughtful of others, rather. I find it hard to believe that he is the boy who did the crime.

"Are you the one who nearly killed the prince?" I ask, trying to be as innocent as I can. Rumours about this incident had already soar around the city.

"Yes. So you should stay away from me. Rather how do you even know about me?"
"Haha." I laugh dryly," you see, I was seriously ill, so I came to ask Shuna-sama to help me. I am currently recovering, so I couldn't go to the school."

"So you are a student as well?"
"Yes. But, why did you do that? You don't seem like someone who would attack someone for no reason at all."
"Tch. I was just irritated. Not only is he better than me in fighting, he is even has a better merchant sense than me. I have been training to be a merchant ever. I was frustrated."
"So you decided to kill him?"
"Obviously not. My father had this bracelet which absorbs magicules. It is used to restrain criminal wizards. It would have absorbed his magicules making him unable to use it. It would have been useless after a few days anyways. I never thought it would have such an effect."

"So you forgot that most monsters are made majorly of magicules?"

He just looked away shyly, full of remorse. Looks like I hit the nail.

"I see." I say that and leave, closing the door behind me.

I then transform into my true form and go towards the room where Carter would be. Even Myourmiles is there, So I guess I should finish this quickly.
